Foley doesn't play for the reds. Don't even know why his name is coming up in this thread (<--- thread Nazism alert).
Quade is not playing well enough at the moment to be in the wallaby conversation. His execution is poor across almost every aspect of a flyhalf game at the moment and he would be a liability at wallaby level.
I have never seen a more talented individual than him in dire need of strong sports psychological input.
His ceiling is ridiculously high.
Two other points I'd add:
- for whatever reason, his injuries seem to have degraded his performance more than most, e.g., his RWC 2011 ACL vs Wales; after that his incredible evasive l and r step at the line never recovered its power and agility
- and equally, when not coached by Link and, particularly, the Link Assistants of 2010-11, he didn't appear quite as good, or as self-confident as a player, ever again. I believe there was something in that psychological and personalities mix that induced and developed the best in QC (Quade Cooper) and, once it departed, so did a few cylinders off his engine, mentally and skill-wise.
In watching QC (Quade Cooper) in 2017 I feel a mixture of much sadness and regret, as though something of true and rare rugby gold that exemplified the best spirit of attacking, ingenious, fast, Australian running rugby, is now lost forever and only a shadow remains.
