Not a good result although Force did play well and they came back shows they wanted it! Disappointed with our lineouts. Steven Moore, never showed any signs of leadership, never found targets in throws but around the pitch he had nothing for the Reds. The young front rowers struggling with game sense, but hungry at the same time. Bit unlucky with some calls from ref with high tackles. Hard to determine it when the ball carrier drops in on contact. Reds needed that win!!

Rebels have signed with BLK until 2020, any news about Reds? I'd like to see the Reds wearing Canterbury

Why?

Do you think the Reds are better suited wearing an outfit from a UK company rather then wearing one from not only Australian company, but a Qld company?

yes, this way I can go to the clearance sale every year and pick up cheap jerseys.

This year I bought my dad an England jersey for $15.

Wouldn't ever happen with the Reds shop. They would never allow merchandise to be sold at that sort of price. ;)

Ran into a Reds HP staff member yesterday. He's leaving for another gig already. Been a major conflict between two other prominent HP staffers for some time (nothing to do with the results etc, been going on for months now ) and their interactions with the HC.

Sounds like we will be back to square 1 in at least one part of the HP program come 2018 if not sooner.

I go to the Canturbury outlet factory sale each year.

When they had the Wallabies contract I got Wallabies jerseys for $40.

For next week versus the Crusaders I think Stiles needs to send a message through the team..

I'd drop Ready for Moore, Smith for Tui(Korcyzk to 7) and bring Houston onto the bench, also look at swapping Douglas or Simmons for Neville/Tui/Rodd

Well It's a baptism by fire to give an outside back his starting debut against the Crusaders

I'd like to see Ready start - a lot more go forward than Moore so far. I'm not sure if I'm overlooking something in Moore's play but I haven't seen a lot of anything so far. Smith I'm not so sure about, I think in the Sharks game he was involved a lot but didn't seem to have such impact vs the Force. Maybe adjusting back to the style of the game after Japan and England? He's a class act and the Crusaders are likely to play Matt Todd who is very experienced so might need Smith's nous.

Did you see the article in the Sunday Mail yesterday about Eto Nabuli where he said that last season he had no idea of the game plan and where he should position himself and run etc? That's astounding for a player who played all season. One game I could understand but how is it that in a professional team the plans were either so convoluted or no-one worked out that he didn't understand what was required? Was it a Graham/O'Connor thing?

Some quick stats I've been able to dig up for the Reds so far:

George Smith is our highest tackle maker (16) with the 2nd best completion stat of the starters at 94.12% (behind Kuridrani who has made 8 and not missed any).

Smith and Higgers have the most number of runs by a forward (19) with George marginally more effective (in terms of ave run ms).

Kerevi has the most number of runs overall (21) for 182ms (ave 8.67m per carry)

Eto has the most metres, obviously on the back of the Force game, at 202 and averages 16.83m per carry.

Kuridrani and Duncan P handy m/c stats too (8.5 & 9.8 respectively).

Slipper carrying the most of the rest of the pack (11).

Hunt (70%), Duncan P (70%), Quade (62.5%) and Talakai (75%) least effective tacklers.

QC (Quade Cooper) has the most handling errors at 10, with Hunt (9) and Frisby (8) close behind. Both locks struggling in the pack with Simmo (4) and Douglas (5).

Moore has only made 3 runs and 8 tackles. Talakai has made 3 runs and 9 tackles.

Just stats to be interpreted wildly.

Was surprised by King George's numbers and Kuridrani's to a lessor degree.

QC (Quade Cooper) is costing us at the moment and we need more from the tight 5.

You never know with the Crusaders. They are usually red hot but occasionally they go MIA, particularly early in the season. Last season they only beat the Force by 1 point with a conversion right on full time.

I'd like to think that Crusaders side will show up this weekend, but I doubt it. I suspect they may feel this is a potentially dangerous but currently fragile Reds side that they can put to the sword before we find too much confidence.

Interesting... the NZ Herald stats have Hunt making 100% of his tackles in both games. 5/5 vs Sharks and 6/6 vs Force.

It's amazing how different the stats can be between different sources. Hunt going from a perfect record to our second worse behind Quade.

Both locks struggling in the pack with Simmo (4) and Douglas (5).

That certainly gels with most observations. Might be time to give Rodda a shot in the starting side. To misquote Voltaire (and Cheika), it pays to drop a lock from time to time pour encourager les autres.

While we're musing on random players.. how fucking good has Duncan been?

It's not just that he isn't screwing up - I can't remember anything he's done that hasn't been done exceptionally well yet. I can't remember seeing him kick long yet but shit, that kid looks so comfortable out there you'd think he has 7 soup seasons under his belt.

If Cheika still wants a ball playing 12 and Duncan keeps this up throughout the season I don't see how he isn't involved with the Wallabies soon after.

I know we don't have Gill any more but 3 turnovers won is pretty bloody poor, especially conceding the most penalties in the comp. Especially when Smith and Korczyk are starters, and Ready off the bench.

A few more stats:

Tries scored: 7 (equal 6th, vs equal 16th in 2016)
Clean breaks: 21 (equal 5th, vs equal 13th)
Defenders beaten: 45 (6th, vs equal 12th)

Another interesting stat for YCs/RCs:

Kiwi team YCs: 4 in total (0.4 per game)
Saffa team YCs: 5 in total (with an extra team - 0.42 per game)
Aussie team YCs: 9 in total (0.9 per game)
