Courier Mail reporting that BLK has gone into Administration so might need to find a new kit supplier for next season.

Hopefully The Reds took some tips from their training field counterparts Brisbane Roar, and are extraordinarily lazy in their efforts to pay suppliers and contractors...

Reds wouldn't pay for that kit.. they would be getting paid to wear them

Why was that terrible marketing? I liked it. I have so many Reds jerseys that pretty much all look the same so when I got a chance to buy one that looked a bit different I jumped on it!
I reckon it was great that they released a few different Reds jerseys this year.

The issue was they played against the Crusaders in it and the jerseys were quite similar from memory.

Yeah the crusaders clash wasn't great but that's just a communication issue between the two sides.

A retro round with the old maroons and navy would be sweet!

They got you then...

The away dark Navy one wasn't so bad (however unnecessary), the grey pre-season one was. The Reds home kit only clashes with potentially 2 teams; Crusaders & Lions. They were almost indistinguishable from the Brumbies when they wore grey pre-season jerseys for no other exercise than selling more. That's why I labelled it a marketing gimic.

Apart from having no real historic connection to the color grey, if they want to throw up different jerseys, at least do something clever. The indigenous jerseys are always well done. As mentioned above, a heritage jersey wouldn't go amiss either.

Meh, I always find this sort of talk about jerseys a bit weird. I liked the grey preseason one, I liked the navy one too. I even like the black warm up shirts.
If you didn't like them then that's fine. I find it weird that people (not just you) will label a different jersey as a failed marketing gimmick on the basis that they personally didn't like it.
They would've done it to try and sell more merch. If they made money then they'll probably do something similar again. If they didn't, they'll probably shelve the idea.
Personally I think it's a good thing that the Reds try stuff like this. It's a bloody competitive market (footy/soccer merch) and anything they can do to get more units out being worn is fine in my book.

How many units of that grey preseason jersey would they really move? 100? 200?

IDK if it's all about revenue, there's lower hanging fruit.

Yeah fair enough. Whatever their reasoning my point still stands that your average joe shouldn't write it off as a marketing fail on the basis that they didn't like it.

Anyway, this has gone on far longer than it should've.

I quite liked the green jersey they had a few years ago to promote a green energy company.

I liked the pre-season jersey as well, I thought about buying one..

The thing with jerseys is, fans don't want to buy new supporter gear which still matches last years, there's no point. I have a Reds jersey from 5 years ago which is more or less the same as the one they have today, so I won't buy a new Reds jersey unless it is something strikingly different.
