Still finishing school in NZ maybe? They'll likely want to spend some more time looking at him in detail to work out how best to develop him. Does anyone know if he'll qualify for Aus u20's or what he'd need to do to qualify?

PNG Hulk is only like 21? He even looks like he has some endurance in that massive frame of his. With hard work and dedication in the right environment, how good could he be?

I rekon he'll be another that really excels at the Reds.

The bloke is big. Looks like he did when he was in Grade 8. Well then he was a really big fat kid. He changed in his later years at school into a fair bit of muscle. the rumour is that it was a result of a form of alchemy

And rumors are worth less than cow pies on here, be careful.

Human biochemical processes are essentially alchemy anyway - if that's what you were getting at.

Fuck - I was certainly NOT saying that at all. The kid just turned it around as some fat kids do.

Shit, I went to school with a fat kid who used to bring a large esky to school in year 9. He went on to become Australia's youngest ever F111 pilot in the 70's

I wouldn't be surprised if Kotze ends up being the 5th lock, could also be Buchanan I guess.

Would be surprised if Talaki doesn't end up with a contract in some form.

BTW, did anyone else see Turner at the NRC final? Injured again.

Neither Kotze nor Buchanan are really S15 standard IMO but I guess with the low second rower stocks either one would be sufficient injury cover. I'd personally go with Kotze, he seems to be superior at the set piece and has developed a pretty good running game during the NRC, definitely a player who has/can benefit from professional structure and coaching.

I thought Kotze certainly finished the NRC better than he started. Was extremely underwhelmed in the opener but pleasantly surprised in the final.

I think Bris Cities game plan in the final suited his playing style which made him stand out, it was a tight forwards affair. He seemed to go missing a bit in the earlier games when they wanted to use more width with Samu playing. Definitely agree that he was an improver though.

He charged on to the ball with a fair bit of venom and I definitely hadn't noticed that previously.

Who the fuck is Duncan Paia-aua?
<snip>
He showed some talent in 2011 as a 15 year old. Enough to impress this scribe who posted this in the 2011 U16 National Championships thread:
Here's my attempt at a team of the tournament.

10. Duncan Paai'aua – Qld Reds
Excellent ball runner for a 10 and scored a brilliant individual try today. Knows how to run a backline too.
<snip>

With recent signings, the Reds should be a contender in 2015. They have recruited some piggy mongrel, and when all are fit and available, will have a backline to get very excited about with pace and class everywhere.

Maybem but he cost the Reds some extra dollars in signing one bloke (some time ago) because he tried to snip him. Word is or was that he was TOLD to sign him at the now, increased figure or his job was on the line.

Can't guarantee the source but generally a good one.

Whichever way you look at it, or give whoever the credit (Cordingly, Richard Graham, Carmichael, Slaughter, Tony Shaw, Horwill, Genia or Cooper, the brand of the Reds) the line-up looks really positive for 2015 - only exception is the cover for Greg Holmes at THP.

To me, the best signing ain't JOC (James O'Connor) or Karmichael - its Adam Thomsom. Whoever enticed him is a fucking genius.

Other than that (THP) we look strong accross the park, particularly with the anticipated run-on side. The bench may become an issue, once the inevitable injuries occur.

Reds to sweep all before them in 2015, particularly those Waratahs.
