I think it will come down to Beau, Harris, Slipper and Simmons.

3. Beau Robinson
2. James Slipper
1. Rod Davies

Hanson and Simmo closely after that, they have been the best 5 performers all year for us. But for me Beau was the stand out he worked his arse off all season where as the others went off the boil at times.

Quade was playing well up until injured.

Tough to pick out of

Slipper
Horwill
Simmons
Robinson

Injuries play a huge role.
Obviously blokes starting each week have to be favourite.
QC (Quade Cooper) Gilly Genia missed quite a few, Slipper a couple thru suspension, but Simmo must have played near all games. bloke is consistent each week and thats why I seriously rate him a little higher than the others

With 56,000 memberships, could the season be called a financial success?

I'd be really interested to know how many of those memberships were for more than 2 or 3 games. How many season ticket holders were there?

There definatley seems to be some "creative" accounting going on to get to those numbers..

Excuse me, Mr Accountant, What's 2 + 2?

Well, What would you like it to be..

Thats the issue with trying to find out exactly how many 'members' a team have these days. Its easy to market these one game 'memberships' where you pay an extra $5 on top of the ticket price for a lanyard and to have your name added into the same pile as those who payed for every game of the year. Its clever marketing to boost member numbers on paper but I would be interested to see some data on fully ticketed members for this season.

Why are we scrutinising the Reds, as Reds fans so heavily for this though? Are they trying to get through some loophole to sound comparatively better than all other sporting teams because of it? They are likely using the same measures used in NRL, AFL and by other Super Rugby teams to maximise their membership.

Is it showing a false sense of financial security? Is it showing something that it really isn't? Or are we just trying to pick the shit out of the place because of the bad season? I just fail to see the issue.

Doesn't really matter if the memberships are ticketed or not, it's the contact details they want. Show your sponsors that you have an audience of "x" captive contacts to have products pushed at and the sponsors will see the value in supporting the organization. It can get blurry though when the link between the sponsor and the organization becomes negative (I.e people start to associate a sponsor as being losers because the team are losers, or the team are dodgy because the sponsors are under investigation for illegal practices).

(But yeah, the reds have probably redefined their membership criteria this year compared to previous years in order to increase the numbers)

Will those members pay to be members next year is the real question. The reds will need some guaranteed income for the next half decade to cover the severe shortfall in crowd attendances if this continues.

I'm sure this season will be a financial success for the Reds. The challenge will be how well that translates to next season.

My guess is that 2014 is the last year of dining out on the 2011 success in terms of fans and numbers will start to drop off a little in 2015 owing to the poor season in 2014.

There seems to be a substantial lag between on field success translating into financial success and likewise, on field problems showing up in the financial results.

I'm pretty sure that fans are happy to stick around in droves for a team regularly winning regular games and making the finals, but a team in the bottom third who wins under 1/3 of their games is just asking to lose the casual fan. I think that the Reds will lose plenty of memberships into next year and then into 2016 if their performance does not improve (and there's no signs it will unless the coaching staff is overhauled, sadly).

And as for the Tahs, I'm pretty sure the reverse will be true. Playing good rugby, winning well, I think we'll see their memberships and crowds increasing into next year. People like winners, particularly Sydney people.

Agreed but the biggest boost (to all Aussie Super Rugby Teams) will be when the Wallabies finally win the Bledisloe Cup.

Although I am not typical, my experience living interstate may cast some light on "memberships". Long term Tah tragic, living interstate who maybe gets to see a live game once every two years. This year I am not missing seeing us win the comp, whatever happens. But rather than buying a walk-up start ticket, I can get a much better seat if I buy an interstate membership and go into the second tier ticket offer. So I did, in the last week of the normal season.

Tahs got an extra member. Sponsors got an extra person to impress. I got priority ticketing. Everyone wins.

Wish I had your confidence. If we win, hopefully memberships skyrocket. But we've been playing nice rugby for a few weeks and the last two home games don't bear out that winners are grinners for attendance records.

Hosting the semifinal should be financially great for the Tahs but I was online at 9am for second release (tier two memberships), and I got three seats on halfway, 13 rows back. Once general public releases, hopefully it ramps up.

I'm the same but with the Reds, I bought my first Reds Forever membership in 2011 which worked out perfectly for getting priority tickets to the Reds semis and GF, I didn't attend any other games due to been interstate/overseas..

I let the membership lapse in 2012/13 because I was once again going to be overseas but restarted the Forever Reds membership this year. If the QRU had released their NSW based Reds membership earlier(came with a ticket to Tahs vs Reds at ANZ) then I would have purchased that one instead.

NOt sure where to put this as the season's over but i guess it happened this season. Interested to see who's injured and when they're due back, some will be in line for a Wallabies call up, some are goneski but will others be ready for pre-season?

Will Genia (Has ruled himself out of Bled 1, so does that mean due back round 2?)
Quade Cooper (When he first had his op thought he'd be back around Bled 1, any updates?)
Eddie Quirk (Rumored to be gone, but will be out for a while)
Ben Daley (Shoulder should be right for pre season?)
CFS Can't remember..
Dom Shipperley (Off to Rebels but will be a long rehab)
Ben Lucas (Knee two months)

Who have I forgotten?
