Well, at least it's an admission he was wrong. Kingston was pretty shit last week, but so was most of the team. Pretty harsh omission. He's got a way higher ceiling than Mitchell, and he's a better player now IMO.

Trouble is he hasn't admitted he was wrong at all, this is just an easy "fix". He came out with all sorts of bullshit to justify the six changes last week & even said the six changes could not be blamed for the defeat, then he puts those six blokes back in & comes up with even more bullshit justifications. Not one mention that just possibly the six changes in one hit was a mistake and that his tactics were crap, no, we'll just go back to the starting side that beat the Cheetahs & everything will be sweet. Really showing his inexperience if you ask me.

He is a very experienced coach, just a crap one at that.
Look at his CV, he won the Celtic League with Munster. Only reason was they were knocked out of the Heineken Cup so he didn't have to rest players. He took charge of Munster who had just won the Heineken Cup and missed the play offs in the next season.
Munster have only ever missed the knock out stages once in the History of the Heineken Cup and guess who was in charge, that's right Tony McGahan.
Look at when he was involved with the Wallabies, the worst attacking form we had seen in years. Averaging less than 2 trys a game.'Look at the improvements to the Wallabies as soon as he left.
Second chance was given, and after last week it's taken away and I will be happy to have him replaced as soon as possible.

Seriously? This is a massive hyperbolic over-reaction towards a coach who is heading into his third, yes, third, game in charge of the Rebels.
At the moment he is 1 and 1.
Sure, let's consider having this chat when we get to the second half of the season and we are floundering at the bottom area of the table, but now?
I recall just about every Rebels supporter on this forum (and most of them at the games) were pretty happy with what Tony had done in the off-season after three trial wins and a great first up win against last years semi-finalists.
Can we give the bloke a chance before we call for his head after two fucking games?

This post deserves more than a like. It's way too early to be calling for the coaches head, we gave the last one 2 years.
All coaches talk rubbish to the press, Chieka is about the straighest shooter you'll see and even then he uses his fair share of new speak and cliche.
I expect a far better performance this week, they were obviously complacent versus the force after a number of weeks of playing 'better' teams, so they let their guard down against a team they were supposed to beat, not a situation the rebels are in often.

You forgetting I am a die hard Munster fan who was always worried once Tony was appointed with the Rebels.
Every one is entitled to their own opinion, I just gave mine.
Like it or hate it, the fact is he really isn't a successful coach at the top level, yeah he has a Heineken Cup as a assistant, he has the Celtic league when he didn't have to worry about Europe any more, he was one of Deans assistants when the Wallabies played some of their worst rugby in years.
Defend him all you like, those are the facts and I hope he proves me wrong and the Rebels have a great season, but anything less than 10th is a failure this year.

Understand your concerns and agree 10th is bare minimum as a benchmark this year however I still think it's too early to be crying into our pints. Give it until about 10pm tomorrow at least

i agree we need to see more of what TT has in store for the rebel faithful before any retribution is due. i am howver a bit dismayed at the spin put on the selections for last week, eg "hegarty needed to see a game unfold from off the bench, see what was going on" or words to that efffect in todays Sun. i just think a more outward admission from the players and coaching staff that last week was a massive miscalculation and a bit of a "mea culpa" from the head coach was required.

This is a big game for the Rebels. The Cru have been singularly unimpressive so far this year, and while they can be expected to improve with Slade at 10, I don't think they would rate as one of the top sides on current form. So, the Rebels have a good chance to show that last week was out of character either because of dud selections or poor play all round. If they bounce back, I think they will go on to a relatively successful season, but if they are beaten then I'm afraid the Cheetahs' game might have been just a flash in the pan.
Also, if they lose, then four Aus teams are likely to be losers this weekend. Can't see the Force or Reds winning and only one of the Tahs and Brumbies will be on the winning side. Go Rebels!

Scythe you must be amazing because every game I have watched Mitchell play for the Rebels he has been great. Especially in D. Might not be your first back picked, but gives it his all, and wherever you throw him he is reliable.
