Just reading that, the poor kid sounded devastated. Now he has to go back and pretend he wants to be at the broncos.

i was listening to this on the radio, sounded like there wasnt an offer to begin with. the guy rang the rebels cos he wasnt getting game time and the rebels are out of wingers, they said sure if you wanna come down, they were impressed by him and said they would discuss it but he is everythign there looking for, he told everyone in brisbane he was going, the rebels decided they didnt need to ad to there squad.

thats the story i got, think he jumped the gun.

He sounds like a gun. I cant understand why they wouldnt pick him up. He must be able to get a contract somewhere else. The force are always seem to have injuries in their bankline...

he has been out injured for most of the last two years and isnt cracking first grade for the nrl much, not sure what a gun is, but sounds like he has been an injury risk so it isnt a clear cut decision

As it stands it looks pretty bad for the Rebels. Whatever happens next they now look unreliable as a organization and it will be harder for them to sign players. Might turn some fans off as well. It would be nice to know why they decided not to sign him.

I think this is the media making a big deal of something that wasn't that big.

I mean obviously this Kemp fellow was desperate, for good reason, as his career isn't going all that well but why would the Rebels hire an incredibly injurable player to replace injuries? That would be silly.

Maybe he'll get a look in somewhere next year because of all this publicity but the whole time I was thinking, when will they get the chance to actually show this guy how to play basic rugby, then a whole coaching system, in what will be about 10 days.

Odd stuff.

PS. In case you blokes noticed I wasn't posting anymore I'm trying to get back in bits and pieces.

Would have been a big call to pick a player as essentially a player to cover injuries who has never played rugby surely he would need a off season to get to know rugby alittle.

If they are going to get a player to cover for injuries you at least want someone with abit of super rugby experience like a Henari Veratau or Ben Batger guys that obviously aren't superstars but could fill in for a few weeks who are actually playing rugby currently

I remember both of those guys at school. I always thought they would become super stars. Especially Veratau

Veratau was poor at the Reds for a few years after looking like a decent enough prospect at the Brumbies.

He looked ok with the Brumbies when he finally got some games back in 2005...

I'm sure he's still angry with himself over the taxi cab incident that had him kicked out of the squad in 2004...

Yeah, I remember being excited when we signed him. He ended up being abysmal, not even near the grade.

Bad luck for the guy, but if he's serious and thinks he can make it in rugby, then he should back himself, pack up and move to Sydney, find a pub job, and turn out for the Two Blues.

Worked in reverse for Beau Robinson.

Someone actually told me last night that Kemp was turning out for the Two Blues against Randwick this weekend.... is that a gee up?

If he genuinely tries to go through grass routes (which would be surprising as I think he'd still be contracted to the Broncos) we'd all HAVE to take notice.

I doubt that he would be doing anything without consulting the Broncos. You can get yourself into trouble if you do not meet contractual obligations, and I am certain that the ARU would insist that all players meet their obligations, whatever code they come from.

He's a very good finisher, Rebels really should have taken him on at minimum wage. He's still very young so it's not like the Rebels will only get use out of him for 1 season.
