Rebels 2021

Good to see Koroibete is still listed after the recent rumours.

Only three locks is a worry though, surely we need a minimum of four.

Anyone know much about Ily Vudogo? He's currently listed as a back rower but there are several players listed that obviously have the wrong position atm.

Wow that's an interesting signing. Ilikena Vudogo played Fiji u20's in 2018 at the age of 18 before being snapped up by the Brisbane Broncos. Has been part of their development system in 2018,2019 and 2020. He debuted at about 19 in QLD cup and is a dynamic outside back - I'd say around 100kg and 6ft? A powerful Fijian who I think would be a great centre/wing in the coming years. Physically quite developed.

Centre/wing that spent the past 2 seasons at the Broncos. Was the 2018 world rugby trophy (tier 2) player of the tournament in 2018 and then invited to Fijians 7s team but was moved from the squad once he signed with Brisbane. Had played a bit of centre in league in last 2 seasons at Q Cup level. That’s the most I can gather from a quick internet search

His signing for me pushes Hodge towards 10 or 12 in the match day squad. There is a bunch of outside backs and not much covering 10-12, he’s the obvious one to shift in

Isn't Lewis Holland a 12? I remember that being the position he was pushing for

Look ultimately would like to see Hodge at 15 but then what to do with DHP?

With Hodge there is only 3 guys that can cover 12.

Combos for 10-12-13 will either be

Gordon - To'omua - Hodge
Hodge - To'omua - Magnay
To'omua - Hodge - Magnay

I have a suspicion that the 7s converts are on some co-contract that allows them to go into 7s camp and be available when needed.

I’d rather Hodge at 15 but there is no way DHP isn’t been included in the match day, so this will push Hodge into a 10-12 combo with To'omua to start the season and maybe towards the end of the season at 13 after Gordon gets blooded

I suspect a fully integrated trans Tasman competition would be needed for KKR to be interested in investing in the rebels - so maybe closer to 2022 when this is mooted might see interest

So the squad list has been updated again.

32 players on it now

Wilkin
Eloff
Orr
Magnay
Gordon
DHP
Craig
Lomani
Naisarani
Vudogo
Tuttle
Skelton
Powell
Uelese
Kemeny

Koroibete
Gibbon
To'omua
Wells
Fa’amasuili
Hodge
Van Nek
Hardwick
Leota
RHP
Cummins

Tonumaipea

Surely an extra lock and hooker to round out the squad

Declan Moore would be nice to keep, he was very impressive in his SS appearances, absolutely no idea who would be available at lock

I think Vudogo could be a really astute signing, showed real potential at the U20s a couple of years ago, and has now had a couple of years in the Broncos system under professional coaching and conditioning. Some good depth in the outside backs for the Rebels next year.

Warpath

Billy Sheehan (19)
run the new fijian on the wing, he played centre so good enough for wing, seen him play, think Eroni Sau mixed with semi radradra

I had a look at his highlights real - not so sure Vudogo will be the hit you think - but happy to be proved wrong

Blackadder

Desmond Connor (43)
Wayne Smith saying Philip has re-signed with the Rebels for 2022. He’s still off to Pau this season but will be straight back to the Rebels after that
Excellent. He has really come along this season and has now really started to show his wares at test level too
