Absolute stupid signing. No offence to anyone, by 1million over 2 years. FFS!!
Develop what your got, bring in another up incoming 9, relinquish the captaincy from the red so he can go back to just playing rugby. It was clear he wasn't comfortable with it. Spend the money on the grassroots rugby in Melbourne that so desperately needs it. My own opinion is watch this space as Nick the red will be wanting an out. Why would he stay only to go backwards. Yes poor season from him but this does not solve the problem. WG IS PAST IT. I quote, my own views.

It's generally 50/50.

It only 50/50 on ARU top-up players, Genia reportedly signed with the ARU for $800k, which means the Super Rugby club has to pay $400k.

There are other factors, like Folaus circumstances where the ARU negotiated third party deals on his behalf, which the Super Rugby clubs don't have to pay half of, only on the agreed salary.

I think they will announce it when it suits the Vic government media cycle. They are making way too much political over the "lobster with a mobster" thing with the opposition leader.

That said, they wouldn't have signed over the controlling stake in MRRU if there wasn't money in the VRU.

Well... they did in 2013

Hopefully it is just an announcement timing issue and we see something fantastic announced, because currently it's hard to see how it won't be any different to 4 years ago.

Perhaps we can't afford him but we also can't afford another shit season, so while bringing in newbies is good, we need to balance that with experienced heads like WG.

I agree, but not a 9. I would rather spend the money on a good 10/12. You can't count injuries as being a poor season.

So if the Force are successful then what is the plan? Playing a pretty high stakes game here.

Force players and coaches are not budging. Vessels is pre signed as are the Halapeti brothers with the Rebels. This is from a good source.

We have Jack McGregor, but with our WG he would not see a minute as his young and needs a experienced head to play alongside.

he's the wrong guy then, probably not HC material?

I think he's the wrong guy right now for any head role. Clearly he doesn't want to go from being the attack coach of probably the worst attack in Super Rugby to the Head coach of it.

Beyond that, between a couple of interviews, and a speech, he seems to speak his mind too often to be a head coach outside the NRL. Let's just say he wasn't particularly afraid to have a go at both our gameplan and a couple of individuals not too long ago, not to mention Rugby decisions being revoked by the corporate side of things.
