For 2 years too, I thought we may only have him for a year. I think this will be good for our stability.

Good luck to you, seriously.
But being a Genia doubter, contract length, promises etc has never bothered him in the past if a better offer comes along.

Yes, we know he left you at the altar. Hell hath no fury and all that.

Whatever ever will be will be. I was only expecting a year.

Was hoping Genia would squeeze in at the Reds because I really wanted Louwrens to land on his feet (and was thinking that would be at the Rebels).

Louwrens and Ruru absolutely need to be kept in Aus, even though they are not the young gunners, they have serious potential to do damage, more so then Matt Lucas and Stirzaker.

So with the confirmation of Genia's signing surely that pretty much confirms that we will have a new skipper in 2018.

We needed that anyway. Excluse the Tahs game where he played 20 min and his 2 1 100 win lose ratio

So much for the money saved from axing the Force going to grassroots rugby. Again, timing by ARU shows what a complete farce the past four months have been

Can't possibly complain about him, never saw him give anything but his all, just didn't have the raw talent that a number of others have. Well played Mick.
I will give him credit for the Unicorns winning the Dewar Shield last year (even if it did hurt this Quins supporter!). He had a cracker of a game.

It would be nice to know how the VRU intend to cover the Rebels deficit in 2018, Genias salary to the club is reportedly $450k/annum..

Where's this rumoured Vic Govt deal?

I don't know how this all works. I thought the ARU pays the Super Rugby salaries? No?

I think they will announce it when it suits the Vic government media cycle. They are making way too much political over the "lobster with a mobster" thing with the opposition leader.

That said, they wouldn't have signed over the controlling stake in MRRU if there wasn't money in the VRU.

Well no.. the ARU provides a grant to the clubs to a value which is above what the salary cap is, but the operating costs of a professional sporting team tend to be more then double what the salary cap, at least in Australian sport. Many teams across Australian sport operate at levels below the salary cap.
