Umm I am reviewing the season now, we began with four wins in five games and we were leading the table, the fourth win, to the Sharks in Capetown is where the alleged first altercation occurred. Then we lost five games. As another poster noted, the players had sorted Mafi out by then, leaving him to be isolated and , why would you bust a gut for the guy? Then three wins and three loses. Was the first altercation the turning point in the mood of the players?
Mafi and Lopeti both fined for breaking the expectations of the club. Why wasn't Mafi fined last time? Is it a two strikes and you get fined thing or is it a the press get wind of it so we better be seen to do something thing?
One rule mate.

Didn't we beat the Sharks at home? Then the next game was that il fated Jags game which started a 5 game losing streak. The punch was squeezed in between this losing streak in SA somewhere either in Pretoria or Capetown against the Bulls or Stormers. Don't think there is much correlation between the two. But still a foolish thing to do none the less

More on the incident..

AN insult flung at a female relative of Amanaki Mafi was behind the alleged assault of his Melbourne Rebels teammate Lopeti Timani.
It can be revealed that while drinking at the house of Mafi’s brother in Dunedin last weekend, Timani made an allegedly derogatory remark about a woman who was present.
An argument broke out and Timani ran out of the house.
He was allegedly chased, tackled onto the ground and assaulted in the street by Mafi, who has been charged by New Zealand police over the incident.

Sweet Jesus. Two blokes representing the Rebels sponsor in such an honourable way.

More I read, more I’m pleased they’re on a plane out of here.

The age has Timani’s view on what happened. To say it isn’t a good look is an understatement. If a tenth of it is true then there is no chance that Mafi wouldn’t be sacked immediately.

With a headline like “I thought I was going to die” it isn’t exactly a good look
And if it’s true that Timani was bundled into a car and driven around then the charge of “injuring with intent to injure” seems light.

Japan wouldn't be able to pick him, not if the National management has even a small percentage of the adversity the corporate clubs do to controversy. pretty sure its a cultural thing so pretty sure he's boned.
