Look, you said we have to face truths. This is my truth. Don't like the opinion? Expect it if you talk about sensitive issues.

Can you not understand how you'd be unhappy if the shoe was on the other foot with that comment?

Most on G&G are of the opinion that it's poor taste to discuss acquiring players from the Force/Rebels until it's a done deal. Your tone/comment went a level further.

Also, "this is my truth"? Lame.

And do you not think this kind of reaction will continue while Rebels supporters pick over the expected bones of the Force?

Its a vicious cycle and you can't say one is better than the other as the one extends from the other root cause.

That's the point I was trying to make, if not directly. It is not a nice feeling having someone rag on your team (whether that's dissing the players or dredging up the likelihood that a team is going). It is not pleasant to talk about who you'd strip off another team that is potentially facing the axe. Truth be told, I'd rather you said you didn't want any of them rather than banging on about who you'll recruit for each position as though it is already a done deal. At least leople would shut up about it.

I understand your point, but I also think -
a) the way you've approached addressing it is hypocritical. "eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" and all that jazz.
b) it would be ridiculous to say force supporters haven't been equally bad. obviously, we both suffer from conformation bias (completely understandable) but your post and many others are examples of this.
c) whoever gets the flick (if anyone) would be insane not to recruit substantially from the other. there will be plenty of time to address this when teams know what's happening.

Good to see we're all playing nicely.

I'm so thoroughly tired of all this bs. Is there any indication of when the axe will swing?

Also, how do we find that opaque Kiwi bloke who apparently owns the Rebels? I'd like a forwarding address should he decide his price has been met and leaves us all properly shafted.

Maybe butthurt Force fans can bitch and moan about the fairness of a "Rebels 2018" thread discussing potential signings on their purpose built website instead of ragging on people here.

I have an email address, but won't disclose - I'll forward on any constructive feedback.

No I wouldn't suggest publishing it!

Just a contingency to express either sincere gratitude or a truckload of condemnation, depending on the outcome.

One idea - we can show my gratitude by eating a and drinking a truckload of food/beverage at a TGIF.

Interesting angle on the Geoff Parling contract, from Wayne Smith:

Certainly, everything has happened out of kilter for Simmons this season. There surely would have been a place for him at the Rebels were it not for the fact that they signed former British and Irish Lions lock Geoff Parling. But that deal was done in February, several months before anyone realised that the Reds planned to cut Simmons from their side.

Interesting question: if we'd known that Simmons would have been on the market, would we take him over Parling? Hypothetical, yes I know, but interesting nonetheless.

You'd say we probably would have taken Simmons.

Those big international marquee contracts are extremely valuable and often go to paying over market price for someone to plug a hole in your roster. It looked at the time like that hole was at lock.

Simmons and Parling bring reasonably similar things to the table but one counts as a local and gets an ARU top up.

It's hard to say. Good (and experienced) locks are hard to find, so I understand the Rebels casting the net overseas, but I'm not sure we wanted to chase Simmons.

I know we got Geoff pre-Simmons being available, but I'm sure we knew he was available when we re-signed Cummins, and we chose the latter. I know who I would prefer out of those two. Hint, not Cummins.

The trouble with marquee players, (and the Rebels have both good and bad experiences with them), that is that I assume Parling can only hang around for 2 years. Is that enough time to develop one of our homegrown locks to take over, or will we be back looking for a replacement when Parling returns home? Back to square one, rather than developing a long term nucleus.

Can you simultaneously eat a rack of ribs, drink a stein a beer, and tweet an image of this to Coxy?

I propose that when the formal announcement is made that the Rebels are safe, the Vic chapter of GAGR gathers at TGIF for a meat and beer frenzy, as a salute to Coxy.
