If Hodge is going to play like that again, Meakes should replace him.

English certainly hasn't done anything to get dropped to the bench and Hodge shouldn't play 13 ahead of English.

Agree, Hodge has been good at 12 and looked like he had barely trained at 15.

Don't understand why Meakes came on instead of Sefa, seems more destructive in changes to the game plan.

It was a strange sub. Maddocks to 15 and Sefa to the wing would have been far simpler.

I don't know that Hodge's shocker can be put down just to not having trained at 15. He had an all around poor game missing lots of tackles, dropping the ball multiple times including over the tryline.

So does anyone think meakes needs to start now? 2 try assists and 2 pilfers

I was waiting for you to say this Shiggins!

Meakes was very good. A couple well timed scavenges and some clever support lines.

Nope. With the preferred starters so far, right now the team is best served with Meakes coming off the bench and busting it up in the 60-80 period.

A combo of Hodge and English in the centres, Maddocks and Marika/Sefa on the wings and DHP at FB is ideal.

Meakes somewhat made up for how bad the rest of the former Force players were. /fishing

Fishing? More like pre-meditated murder.

You throw a baited line into a fish farm pond, you are going to get a bite. And you know it. :)

If Meakes is to come into the team, Hodge should push one out to 13, where i actually think would suit his skillset better anyway.

Is DHP out for a while or was that just a one week sort of thing? English provides great energy for the team. If DHP is out, could we see Maddocks to Fullback, English on the wing and Meakes at 13? Just a thought

DHP will presumably be in the Concussion return to play protocol this week.

Assuming he suffered no other injury it will be about whether he is feeling ongoing effects from the concussion or is able to pass each step of the RTPP by the required date to be ready for the weekend.

With a Friday game his chances would be less given it is a 5 day turnaround.

one would think if DHP is out, then Naivalu in and Maddocks to fullback (as should have happened on Sunday). Meakes to come off the bench. only one of Timani, Cottrell, RHP to start and either Fainga'a or Hardwick at 7. BUT i wouldn't be surprised to see the "power pack" start again and a 6/2 bench, with Parling in the 23.

Happy for him to sit out a week. There is nothing to be gain against a team that we should be able to compete with quite well at home.

Against the Sharks i'd be putting Sefa on the wing with Maddocks at 15 to combat the speed of their outside men. The pack needs Fainga'a to start and Hardwick to be injected a little earlier than he has.

Yeah, I agree Hodge is a no go at fullback, it's one of those things either you get it or you don't and I felt like Hodge quite clearly didn't get it. I wouldn't mind seeing Maddocks at 15. Not sure how you shuffle the rest of the backline but Hodge should only really play on the Wing or Centers.

Hodge played a fair bit of fullback in 2016 on his way to earning Wallaby selection didn't he? He would have also played a few games there last year wouldn't he?

I think it was just a bad game. I don't think it was because he has no idea what to do at fullback.

IMO Hodge needs to be in the line ,, seems the defense works off him , for some reason i thought Maddox was a potential 10 , is that not correct ? DHP has been doing really well at 15 even under the high ball ( the latest nuclear weapon !!! ) ,, should rethink the starting lineup with the opposition in mind , great big South Africans ,, need to run them around as much as possible early , no attempts at goal ( unless right in front ) high pace up tempo rugby then put on the closers ,, interesting to see what super coach Vessels does with selection this week
