Josh Coward. Looks destined for 7s IMO. Talent is undoubted, but being short, "lean framed" (at least for a rugby player) and not really a natural halfback, I think its still more an uphill battle than most.

wasn't Coward along with Oisen Clarken (spelling?) one of the two young Vics in the Commonwealth Schools Games Sevens team ?

Yep. Rob made the side too, but he played two games for the full schoolboys and one for the Schools Barbarians against the Full side.

Yep that's the one. He's of a similar build to Gio Aplon which hasn't held him back. Isn't Damian McKenzie a lightweight too?

Either way, I hope the strength and conditioning guys don't over build him and erode that acceleration and step. He looked like a real jet out there.

For mine, at that sort of height for a back, you need to be nuggetty, a halfback/fly half or so ridiculously talented that selectors simply can't ignore you. He's not the first two, and the last one is guys like Kolbe and DMac. Hope he makes it, Vics, particularly talented and homegrown Vics are great to have and watch succeed elsewhere, but it's an uphill battle. Won't stop me cheering for him every step of the way!

Would love to get a replay of that match. Might sniff on YouTube for it.

Think a lot of the guys playing Rebel U20's were ex Storm Juniors. After the Storm moved their junior program to the Central Coast, a lot of the guys stuck around in Melbourne and gravitated to Union. Good signs for us.

here is the 20's final;

Good news indeed. I thought Tom might have entertained overseas offers, but good to see he has committed . I think Same has identified the long-term opportunity with Luke moving on in 2017.

Not surprised about Meehan's smaller contract extension. I think he will want to test himself in the OZ market in order to get more starting game time. Would love to keep him long-term, but I understand he wants to be a permanent fixture in any team.

The one year for Bip doesn't surprise me either. After having 5 starts this year he will be keen for more.

Good set of re-signings. Engo was starting to recapture a bit of the form from13 & 14 that saw him get picked on Chieks first EOYT, Jeffries has looked his best yet and we need our locks Jones going. 1 Year is probably exactly what is right for Bip, he knows he needs at least another season's development before pushing for a starters spot, and he's potentially the best 2nd string halfback in Aus ATM, which is good for us.

Brand worth more now than it was 6 weeks ago so hopefully starting the season with out has paid big.

The season is 1/3 over, any potential 'increase' will be offset by the sponsor paying less for a shortened season.
