He went more than alright; he was terrific. The coach knows what he can do in the 2nd row but this is a trial and the coach has done well to chose him in the spot - be be tried out there.
Agree on Reid.
Apart from the proven Super starters including Wobs, are all the Rebels non-regular players, including the invited training players outside the EPS, not getting a run?
The Tahs are playing all their invited players including a few nose-pickers, but the Rebels look like there are not many outside their Super Rugby and EPS guys.
I should look it up but maybe others can tell me off the top of their heads.

There's information floating around on Facebook at the moment that Kemu Valentine (a local Vic product) of the wider training squad is being taken over for the trial. This seems to indicate that players not already named may get a run and that there might be more of the EPS and wider training squad taken.

Yes Lee agree with "more" a large array of skills he has.
As for the wider group, I don't know I found that interesting.
What Jordy did first year out of colts, and discussions on this forum about the Rebs shortage on a specialist 7 I was surprised.

Have heard some of the extended squad are going, just not named to start either half.
With regards to specialist 7, both players in contention for the 7 jersey need some game time. Saffy has had a long lay off and Fuglistaller
to see how he copes with the step up to Super Rugby standard.

Oops, its Valetini, I don't know much but he is purportedly a 'Quin's player. Perhaps some more involved individuals will have more info.

OK - now the name twigs.
He's a big bopper ethnic Islander centre who played for Vic Schools in 2012. He was called over to NZ last year to replace an Oz Schools touring player who was injured.
There's another Valetini - Bill - who I assume is a relative who plays on the wing.
Both looked promising but it's early days for them.

Had his knee cleaned out a few weeks ago. Not sure how long before he's back playing.

He's a good player, too good for local rugby as he has consistently ripped it up in the games I have seen him play but that was in colts. This year he should be making the step up to senior rugby and it will be interesting to see how he goes.

I think in the nature of these things, it is a fluid thing. Ostensibly it is handled by the Rebel Rising team (http://www.melbournerebels.com.au/Community/RebelRugby.aspx), so I don't know if there is a whole lot of training directly with the main Rebels group. Going by the above page, it looks more like it is a bit of an on-and-off thing rather than something of an ongoing nature.
Also, from a recent news corp article on the topic (http://www.news.com.au/sport/rugby-...nst-nsw-waratahs/story-fndpt9s1-1226566698911), it appears that the Rebels will be using 31 of their contracted players + Valetini. I imagine the outs are Beale, Higginbotham, Woodward and

Thanks. That's fair enough. I think the Reds and, to an extent, the Brumbies and Waratahs have formalised it a bit more during this off-season. If academy funding is restored as the Super franchises have been calling for, then it should only solidify more.
One reason I asked was to see if there was another bolter like Nigel Ah Wong waiting to be unleashed. Starting from the Reds College several months back, he looks like he could press strongly for a Super Rugby position this season.

Kemu Valetini is a Quins product, robust inside centre with explosive power, in the Tuilagi mould. Represented Victorian and Australian schoolboys over the past few years. Would be a great first VRU Rebel in years to come.
