Another note. Nice to see us flying under the radar somewhat. Sure we had a bit of press with Horie, but the northerners have stolen the show. Let them have the limelight (and their Judases).

We'll let the footy, do the talking.

I don't know mate, every journalist and his dog was quoting Hill's quote about Izzy Re: The Salary cap.

Also, Manu's issue is getting a decent press run in NZ.

Kimami Sitauti off to an unlucky start, hearing he broke his ankle at training a few days back, 2 months in boot, plus recovery time beyond it 8(

Fark, already a shit start to the season without a tackle in anger.

Got a letter from the ARU yesterday too, Lions tour game will be reserved seating. Guess that was coming.

Got my membership card in the mail yesterday, have not heard anything about the purchasing of tickets for the Lions on email as of yet.

Not surprised it's reserved seating that night. Was surprised that the Harold Mitchell Cup is going to be played before the Lions game though.

Just a better way to get more numbers into the stadium I guess.

The Rebels' Family Day is on Sunday 3rd February at Visy Park.
I heard that the family day was pretty much a merch experience last year, it was frankly a bit crap. Is that unfair? I'd have to travel in from Gippsland to come, will my 7 year old have enough fun?

The members day was good, hearing the players talk, meeting them one on one.

Agree, the family day is rubbish.

I just got my card in the mail with a note saying I would get a cap and a scarf etc. No biggie really as, like has been pointed out, the season doesn't start for a couple of months.

Ignoring the backs, I really can't see Henderson being benched. I've never met the bloke but he rarely has a bad game and coaches love him.

He must be doing something right.

Yep, although it's a long season.

Your back row combination?

Tough one.

I'd get crazy personally and consider cross-training Delve as a Saffa/French style 7, basically through a similar reasoning to JWhites use of Vaea at 7 for periods in 2012. Delve is excellent in tight play, cleaning out and gaining metres close to the ruck, which isn't your standard 8's role. Having him at 7 would really let him stick to what he's good at, and have him close to the ball in a true captain's role.

I don't rate Fugistaller at all but I don't have anything against Saffy, I just don't think he's got the skillset of a 7. Jones on the other hand is a much better fit at 6, particular if you want to play the very South African style I've detailed.

This would leave a backrow of 6. Jones, 7. Delve, and 8. Higginbotham (who would thus be given the roving license to do stuff like kick returns and seagulling on the wing where we will get value out of him). You'd only go 1 loosey on the bench which would be Saffy, leaving 3 backs spots.

HOWEVER, I'd be perfectly happy with the likely backrow of 6. Higginbotham, 7. Saffy, and 8. Delve with Fugistaller and Jones on the bench with a 5-2 forwards-backs split. It's balanced but I do like more specific roles out of my 6, 7, and 8 then this likely combo would offer.

It's pretty obvious imo.

Higginbotham is the incumbent Wallaby 6. He goes there.
Delve is your captain and has been very good at 8 for the past 2 seasons. Why change it.
Saffy and Fuglistaller fight it out for the 7 and first shot goes to Saffy.

Jones should be playing at lock, he's better than Neville.
