People are shouting Barry Faamausili's name. He's Victorian (as I embarrassingly didn't know) and he'll be done and dusted with his short term Montpellier contract by then (or so I hear).

Failing that Ollie Hoskins might be worth a look see, though the Force folk would be mighty POed.
Ollie is training with the force in the preseason. Would be gutted to see him go. Cruze has been involved with the rebs aswell and from what i understand he had a good year in the shield might also be worth a look.

We've lost Manu, FFS. Failed pre-employment medical examination.

Now we have to hunt for another prop.

Not that I ever doubted you.

New Rebels recruit ruled out

The Rebels suffered an early blow after losing new signing Pauliasi Manu after a neck injury forced the Kiwi to return to Auckland.

The Rebels had high hopes for the former Blues loosehead in 2013 but a failed medical examination has forced Manu home to overcome the disc issue.

Melbourne officials say it was a mutual decision between the club and the 24-year-old, whom they hope to re-sign again next year.

"I'm gutted I'm not going to play for the Rebels next year especially after coming over the first time and meeting the team and management," Manu said.

"The environment was positive and their aspirations were high and I was hoping to be part of the journey next year. We'll see what happens in 2014."

Manu is the second contracted front-rower to have left the Rebels after hooker Ryan Tyrrell returned to Perth this pre-season due to personal reasons.

"Both Ryan and Pauliasi fitted into the Rebels environment well and will be missed, however the end result is in the best interest of all involved," said coach Damien Hill.

"We will remain in contact with Ryan, and hopefully see Pauliasi return to the rugby paddock soon."

With the signing of Japanese hooker Shota Horie for Tyrrell, the Rebels remain one front-rower short.

Nic Henderson and Laurie Weeks are the two experienced props while Eddie Aholelei and Paul Alo-Emile are also under contract following the departures of Rodney Blake and Jono Owen.

A long-time understudy to All Blacks loosehead Tony Woodcock, Manu was instrumental in Auckland's ITM Cup charge this season and started in the team's loss to Canterbury in the final.

I think we will have Henderson, Ged and Weeks in the front row
Pyle and Neville in the 2nd row
Fuggilaster or Saffy at 7, Higgers at 6 and delve at 8.
one of our polynesian props on the bench, plus Horie
James King covering lock and Luke Jones covering 4-6.

I hope Super Rugby is adopting the trial laws. they have been good, particulrly the line out and quick line out options.

I do not think that is accurate about having a fetcher on the team.
Look at all of the south african and NZ teams who lack a fetcher and who not only beat Aus teams, but finished higher on the table than them.

A fetcher is great if you have Pocock, Hooper or players of that ilk.

With quality and fit 6,7,8 we can get by without a pocock.
They aren't law trials, they are now law.

a starting spot for jones ?
With a fit second and back row Jones will be left to the back up off the Bench.

4: Neville
5: Pyle
6: Higgers
7: Saffy
8: Delve

Just makes it impossible to squeeze Jones into the starting line up if they are all fit.

Is there any word on higgers injury? A quick scan of instagram shows him out drinking after the Wales game without a sling on and now he's off holidaying in Norway? Can't be too serious if that's the case.

But the force took a couple of years to sort that.it will come for the rebels

It actually didn't really. By year 3 I'm pretty sure they were taking a punt on DH-P and Longbottom. Even if they weren't getting much of a run at least they gave them positions in their squad.

Not on the prop front.

Not at the right age, that PH prop would have been good in his day. As would the Boroondara prop.

I'm surprised to hear nobody for Melbourne pushing their TH prop who is youngish and has the body shape.
