Do you all really believe Lloyd Johannson will play many games. He has disappeared in Italy and Japan for some time now and I'm not quite sure of its level.
plenty of players have retuned from Japan and Italy and performed at super rugby level

Well... wait and see
He didn't leave me a great impression last time I saw him play in Super Rugby
I also hope he has matured since I met him at the Cargo bar with Quade Cooper and Andrew Walker in 2007

Not many players in the 2007 reds lineup did perform well..

Sorry to hear you'd didn't had a pleasant encounter with him 4 years ago...

They really do have a abundance of choices next year in Cirpriani, JOC (James O'Connor) and KB (Kurtley Beale)... Hilgendorf, Kingi and Huxley arent nobodies in the playmaking department either

based on last years performances, huxley is a nobody in the playmaking department

I don't see why hilgendorf would be on the bench. he provides cover for 10/12.
JOC (James O'Connor) can slip into ten and provide a much better replacement for cipriani if need be.
12 could be covered by mortlock, or beale for players already on the field.

I would be surprised if hilgendorf gets much game time this year.

what i think it will be:

9. phipps
10. cipriani
11. Vuna (seems as though he is staying around! great news)
12. JOC (James O'Connor)
13. Mortlock
14. Gerrard
15. Beale

20. Kingi
21. Inman
22. Mitchell

For my money, Kingi is one of our potential best backs. I'd want to see him getting ample game time. if mortlock starts then after half time shift gerrard into 13 and bring stirlo off. put kingi on at 14.

what i hope it will be:

9. phipps
10. JOC (James O'Connor)
11. Vuna
12. Mortlock
13. Gerrard
14. Kingi
15. Beale

21. Mitchell - wing and 13 cover
20. Cipriani - full back, 10, and wing
22. Inman - 12 and 13

As much as I would like to see a backline involving Cipriani, JOC (James O'Connor), Beale and Inman I think it will be unlikely to take place.

Cipriani will likely be called up for the 6nations - with Wilkinson retiring and flood injured - and therefore miss the opening few games of super rugby. The Rebels will either play JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 in Cips stead or bring in Hilgendorf to allow JOC (James O'Connor) to play 12. The reality is if the Rebels are doing reasonably well when Cips comes back the Coach's will not be inclined to change the team and Cips might find himself spending a lot of team on the bench.

Really?

There must be someone else left in England that's international quality?

I don't think Lancaster will call up Cipriani. Unless there is an injury crisis with a few of the other young lads.

i doubt cipriani will get a call up as well.
he didn't play much rugby last season. the only rugby he's played recently was the barbarians game and that was a bit of a debacle.

Charlie Hodgson has experience and is a relatively stable hand and I'd expect young farrell to get a bit of time off the bench

England is trying to return to a old school clean cut mentality following the RWC shenanigans... they wont be bringing in someone like Cipriani with a bad boy reputation

As much as a disorganised England really floats my boat, from what I have seen and heard about Stuart Lancaster it is beginning to worry me. The man seems like he has a clue and is a decent bloke as well.

This troubles me greatly. I can't wish him well because that means the Poms are travelling nicely. Sorry, but we can't have that. Ever.

Still, this is a very interesting article about the new sheriff in town. I may be starting to admire him, which means it is time to ramp up my medication.

Anyway, getting the topic back on to the Rebels, I have a question for any current Rebels member.

Santa gave me platinum membership for Christmas, but never having been to a Rebels home game before I am unsure of the social norms. Should I knock out a few teeth and wear my ugg boots and flanny shirt like a good western suburbs boy, or should I buy a Land Rover, wear a tweed jacket and drink chardonnay like a good inner city type?

When the Reds come to AAMI park to play and I am in my Reds jumper, am I likely to have things thrown at me?

Any help would be appreciated so I can fit in with the crowd.

This is what happened last time someone wore a Reds top to a Rebels game:

Hmm. Well, I'm just going to take a chance that the Rebel supporters are more lovers than fighters....

Worst case scenario is that if prodded too hard, I can always show my bum crack like the gentleman above. Ask youself this: is my wearing a Reds jumper in the middle of the Rebels membership base really worth a potential view of my arse stripe?

No. No it's not. Peace be with you, my brother.

i'm a platinum member as well. the crowd are well behaved, mostly beer drinkers although in the seats closest to the field in the platinum section there is a fair bit of shiraz and chardonnay being drunk by some of the more preppy members.
I find that there is a lot of abuse hurled at the refs in the platinum section. also, make sure you aren't in section 7. I was there last year, there is a kid (17-18 yo) in section 7 who is the world's most annoying sports fan. I rang up when i renewed and asked if he and his dad had renewed (knew their seat number as it was right behind me), i was told they did and i requested a change of seat.....i can tolerate a lot, but this guy was the worst.

if you're a rebels member...be a rebels member and a rebels fan. none of this wear your reds jersey bs. back the team throughout the season. wear your rebels, don't boo the reds, applaud when they do something good, but back the rebels.

Why? You can't force someone to support a team.
And if the Reds are playing he has every right to wear it.

He will just look like a bit of a dick when they aren't.
