they might not be the best, but they would be certainly better off than a bloke who has played every game in the 16s, a guy who has played competively at 1sts level must surely be better then a guy who has stood out in 16s???

A guy who plays competitively in the firsts, not neccessarily is better then a standout in the 16's, it all depends on what school and what team you're facing.
We are just naming the top 22.. not players who are second best in a position.

just found this forum and i've been looking around at a few games recently. Mainly watching churchie, they seem to have a few grade 11s in an undefeated 1st XV team. Just going to throw a name out there. Number 8 for ACGS Lachlan Oppenheimer, one of the biggest 16 yr olds i have seen in my life. The kid is a beast and gets through a mountain of work as run on. Jonesy prefers him over Digger MacMillan and Michael Gunn, I think purely due to size. Can't see the selectors writting the boy off. Don't know what competition he's got for that spot but just thought i would throw a name out there, very impressed by his size and strength. Breaks an incredible amount of tackles and is solid in defense, seems to love to put his head in the breakdowns.

What about Jack Cornelson? Great line-out jumper, has got a great frame and hits hard.

Correction; Lachlan Oppenheimer is 17 this year, saw him out at ACGS vs BSHS in the trials and I must agree with his game style, light.

ah thanks, knew he was grade 11 and didn't see him playing the year up in younger grades. that does make alot of sense.

Brad Wilkin is the one of if not the opensides around and there are many great players in the AIC and TAS competitions, but this is from a GPS perspective.

Also nearly forgot Churchie...
Churchie: Sebastian Georgiou, Michael Gunn, Monty Ioane, Angus McClanachan, Alex West, Digger MacMillan, Ethan Machin. Is Darcy Eason u17??

you lack of bgs players is astounding, considering they did finish 3rd last year with a full strength team, and have numerous yr 11s in the firsts. why so little of them?

Agree that the 'selectors' in this forum are a little one eyed. BGS only one player? J Dalgliesh (GT) has a heavily strapped thigh all season & was dropped from GT1sts due to lack of getting over the advantage line a couple games ago. Saw him on the bench against BBC so he must be fit. Heard T Given could pay 5/8 this weekend. He look a natural flyhalf when he moved to that position against NC. Think BSHS, IGS &NC will dominate the state 16s for 2011.

Im not excluding BGS players, just wasn't aware of the other players playing 1sts and 16s.

Dalgleish wasn't dropped for not being able to cross advantage line, he was dropped because of injury and the strong performance of year 12 at flyhalf

Tom Mellor from GT deserves a look at hooker, really improved with his experience in the 1's.
Lock O'Rourke is easily the best flyhalf is the best 10 going around!
