Queensland Reds 2025

Expecting something like this:

1 Blake
2 Fourie
3 Fa'agase
4 Canham
5 Brosnan
6 Brial
7 Herbert
8 Uru
9 Thomas
10 Mclaughlin-Phillips
11 Ryan
12 Henry
13 Pakeho
14 Anderson
15 Campbell

16 Hough
17 Harris
18 King
19 Vest
20 Muller
21 Martens
22 Rubens
23 McCulloch

With Bloomfield, Robinson, and Conway the extras. There's a fair bit of flex from a few of those players in terms of position though, and we might get thee coaches keen to see how some of the fringe guys outside the squad go before Super AU so the may mix it up a bit.
Tbh I’d just keep Bloomfield and king as your tight heads rather than having fa’agase switch sides. Vest to start at lock and replace him with Bronson.
Your backline is spot on.

We've all come up with the "I need to move to a foreign remote island for work" excuse before to get out of a relationship.
When they agree to move with you:

I'd probably have Robinson over Muller too, since there's likely plenty of lock / six cover between Uru, Vest, and Brial anyway.

The main reason for that is to take a look at Harris for next season - I think we're more likely to be in need of a loose head than a tight head at this stage.

Similarly with Robinson I think Muller as a possible lock to round out the squad is more important. I don't think we're in as immediate need of depth at 7 in the squad, but if we are Herbert would be the one to bring in (with Robinson already on a development deal).

So, we got Ross, Blake and Fa'agase on LHP side with Hodgman a serious threat of retirement. All those guys can get the job done. I agree with playing Harris to get a look at him (never seen him play) with Blake on the bench - or vice versa.
I agree, Muller should get a go, 2nd row is a weak point depth wise.

I am glad we have Zac Hough back in the mix, after the Rebels folded I thought rugby may have lost him. Does anyone know if he has been signed by the reds on any type of contract? Also noticed he has been named at both hooker and openside for Uni in the past few weeks, would be interesting to see where the reds are projecting him to play.

The squad posting by the Reds lists him as a hooker and it makes more sense to use him there given the rest of the list (really no need for three 7s for a single match in Tonga).

I doubt he's been signed to anything long term though, the hooker spot is full to overflowing and Blake offers coverage there, and 7 is pretty well covered too. Even if a spot did open up in either of those spots I suspect Fourier and Herbert would be picked up ahead of Hough.

That said he should get game time against Tonga and is probably pretty likely to play on super au as well, so he's at least got a few chances coming to make his case for a pro contract.

A bit more experimental than I was expecting in spots but I like it for the most part. Good to see all of Harris, Bloomfield and King getting time and it's probably makes sense to play Blake at hooker over giving Hough time, considering we really don't need more hookers for next year. Also happy to see Brosnan and Muller both getting time, but I would probably have preferred one of them to start over Vest.

Backline looks very strong, should be a pretty settled unit for Martens/Rubens/McCulloch to step into to.

I like this team! Probably the biggest surprise is Robinson starting. But then he's probably the only 7 in squad if I remember correctly. Hough should move to the tahs imo.

Ok I've only seen him ever named at 13 for Reds, Filth and Aus U20
And Henry at 12.
I guess it's good to have options.

And @Phil, you're a very cunny funt!
Pakeho has been named at both 12 and 13 for the Reds this year, though more often at 13. He was also regularly at 12 for Brother's last year, including in the final. I believe he's actually spent more time there than at 13 in general, I'm pretty sure it's his preferred position.
