Queensland Reds 2025

He’s a baby. Pleeeenty of time for the bloke to show his worth. He has everything you’d have on a shopping list for a player. Just needs some time to play.

He will have a learning curve bigger than some when he can’t just lean on size. That is also a great asset to to have whilst the finer skills are honed.

He’ll also have Tai Taka breathing down his neck too. Reds should be alright in the next few years.

Odds are some of these guys won’t stay around and some won’t kick on.

Always going to be the case for QLD & NSW. Always seems like a un fathomable amount of depth coming through but then we have depth issues.

Has Isaac Henry been getting about in HC?

Yeah just gotta hope that one lands. If Goldsbrough, Ruebens, Taka don’t work out they would join Annan and potentially Henry as failed midfield options. That would be highly unlikely and very unlucky.
Also Henry has been playing HC getting decent minutes. Unsure how well he’s playing just good to see him healthy.

Idk, feels like the depth is all coming through at the same time, got 2011 written all over it.

Sorry - tone never comes across when written (especially when poorly written in my example) - that definitely wasn't a dig at you, it was meant to be a light-hearted dig at BR and his *tiny* Brumbies-bias (coming from me with a Reds-bias). Dre has been immense, I was at Suncorp for his debut vs Wales, and it is surely one of the best debuts I've seen, particularly given the opposition and occasion.
And I accept that Hawko. Unlike others who only watch games involving the team they support, I watch every game in which an Australian side is playing. I can therefore say that I've watched every Super Rugby game involving Dre and he is an exceptional talent given his age.

My initial comment was that he would face competition from Lington in the contest for rookie of the year. I stand by that statement but wouldn't be disappointed if either one was awarded that honour.

Fair point. It's great to have some talent coming through. Ieli looks like he could be pretty special

This is a slightly odd conversation given Ieli (for all his promise) didn't get the equivalent rookie of the year award (Shawn Mackay Most Outstanding Young Talent Award) from the Brumbies, Lachlan Shaw did.

He did debut last year for a single game, but it's not uncommon for rookie of the year awards to allow for a small amount of games in the previous season (NRL is less then 5, for example).

True about Lachie Shaw. Plenty of games and half a dozen starting in the second row. Also had an exceptional year but imo it was a harder ask for Lington in the front row with no real cover behind him. It was a case of if he failed the team failed. Lachie Shaw at least had Cadeyrn Neville covering him if it all went to shit.

I was wondering why we were talking about Brumbies players in this thread but I guess there's always a link.
