I did read somewhere, that The Reds contract was conditional upon QC (Quade Cooper) receiving an equal or higher $$'s from the ARU.
If the Reds did not have "best endeavours" and "acting in good faith" in relation to clauses about the ARU contract I would be quite surprised.
So I would imagine that it is clearcut that QC (Quade Cooper) could walk away in the event of a low offer from the ARU.
But not so clearcut, in the event that he received a good offer from the ARU.

Let us just suppose ARU do not offer a very large top up when they recommence negotiations.

Does anyone actually think QC (Quade Cooper) will actually walk from the Reds if ARU play hardball contractually?

I can't see this happening, particularly while he is still injured and first pick #10 for Team Rehab.

Mungoball Clubs seem to have their rosters more or less finalised, and while he is injured I can't see that there would be too much interest from Mungoland.

Europe and Japan - Hmmmm again the injury. Can't see any offers coming in until he is playing again.
Huge deals like the Dan Carter and $BW type from Jap/Euro clubs frequently result in huge disappointment because both those players were badly injured not long after they started at their respective off shore clubs.

In the short term QC (Quade Cooper) seems to be stuck in Heavensgame in Australia. Time for him to HTFU and get fit and back on the field before any further shenanagans.

The ARU do have their say over marquee players. Whether that means signing a contract, I do not know.

All players(including foreign) who sign with a super rugby team have a contract with the ARU since they are the governing body in Australia, it's part of the RUPA agreement..

I'm sure there would be some minor changes in reference to Wallaby requirements though.

I like my heroes flawed.

An interesting saying.

I'd prefer to see it phrased: "I like my heroes human".

Nobody cares if you fuck up once (drink a few too many), if you're media shy, or if you have the occasional form slump. People care when it either becomes consistent or if you do something worse.

Great article. This bit:

"However, the bottom line is that we are looking for at least a 15% edge and we – Wales that is – reckon Spala, with its specialist cryotherapy units, helps and has done time and time again. On the other hand, England clearly think that St George's Park, just outside Burton upon Trent, with its hydrotherapy suites, biomechanic gyms, video analysis, and especially the altitude chamber does it for them."

Anyone think the Wallabies have anything remotely similar? Wasn't this a point that the villanous Quade was making?

Hmmmm.... The facilities that facilitate.

Is there a typo in the reference? Is it an attitute chamber that the Wobs are missing?

If you counted up all the stupid things I've done over the years. Particularly the things I only have partial memory of, I reckon I'd be judged far worse than Quade.

I'm wary of passing judgement.

I've done many things worse then some of Quade's acts and regularly whinge about my employer..

But then again I'm not getting paid 1000% above the average wage to represent my company and its products, nor do I have an audience of thousands of people listening to what I say....

Having money/fame doesn't make people more sensible.

Perhaps this is how the ARU put the whole thing behind them: he can start again.
Given the potential ramifications of such a low ball offer it makes you wonder what input coaches may have had - at least to the point of indicating their thinking on his importance to the Wallabies.
Is this the type of contract non-test s15 players are on? If so doesn't it mean the ARU can offer someone else a topped up contract?

Here is an article from a US paper about a very promising high school athlete and why he has chosen to pursue a rugby career over American Football

But the 16-year-old doesn't want to play another football game.

"He begged me not to put his name out or send out film to college recruiters," Jennings said. "I took him off the board."

May is a rugby player.

His heroes are Dan Carter, Richie McCaw and Quade Cooper, not Peyton Manning or Brian Urlacher or Tom Brady.

Who are those guys?

They are rugby players, maybe the best in the world. Carter and McCaw play for the All-Blacks in New Zealand. Cooper, May's personal favorite, plays for the Australian Wallabies.

Read the whole article. Very interesting, but these section shows why Cooper is important to rugby. We know
his worth to Australia. Yes he did stuff up. He has publically apologized. The ARU needs to keep him in
Australian rugby.

Not entirely unexpected, and predicted by some posters several pages back.

The ball is now firmly in QC (Quade Cooper)'s court. It will be very interesting to see his (and his management teams) next move.

There should be no problems getting this thread to a maiden Century now.

whereas if he wasn't a guy so keen to "back himself" he could still be on a multi year contract

now he has backed himself into a corner

so will it be sushi or bouillabaisse?

I tip him to back himself, come out & have another blinder of a year in S15 helping the Reds lift another Championship Trophy, in the meantime earning himself the biggest pay deal in ARU history when he is instrumental in helping the Wallabies beating the Lions & bringing back the Bledisloe.
