I completely disagree that someone coming out in public and criticising the organisation that employs them is "a person trying to fight for the way that he wants the game to be played."

You are acting as if the offer that he would only receive match payments in 2013 is akin to banning him forever.

No QC (Quade Cooper) is not bigger than the game, but neither is the board, and neither is RD.

How many people think QC (Quade Cooper) was wrong for the way he went about trying to say what he wanted to say? Very few.
RD and the Board didn't act in a petulant fashion in an attempt to get their way like a spoilt 4 year old.

Even QC (Quade Cooper)'s supporters admit the way he did it was poor, even if they believed his message was valid.

If I was QC (Quade Cooper) I'd realise backing myself to get match payments from the ARU for playing for the Wallabies is a much safer and likely option than making a good career out of boxing.

QC (Quade Cooper) hasn't been insulted he's been given an incentive based contract, common in many industries including sport.

I can see both sides of this. In the end I think if Quade really was 'committed' to playing for the Wallabies, and had any pride in the jersey, he would suck it up and take the deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he being given a very similar deal to what Sharpie got circa 2010? Look at his response- the last two years has pushed him from a good player to a Wallaby legend. THere is no reason why Quade couldn't do the same.

To bust out an old phrase- "Don't get bitter, get better". Sharpie got better. It looks like we now can see which option QC (Quade Cooper) has taken.

However I will wait until I hear it from QCs mouth. I don't trust Danny Weidler at all, he's just Khoder's mouthpiece. Although the silence on Quade's twitter tonight has been deafening.

Possibly, but after his recent disciplinary hearing it wouldn't be the best negotiation tactic.........

QC (Quade Cooper) may have a world of potential talent, but after his performance at the RWC and recent events I'm not fussed with him leaving ARU. I'd much rather have a team of guys who love playing for the jumper and making the country proud...the honey badger springs to mind.

you're telling me, I can't handle the silence. What did he have for dinner? Did he have peanut butter or sushi or both? What's Paulie up to? I need to know Quade, I need to know!

Oh for goodness' sake. I can't take it any more!!!!!

1) There is no conspiracy. Not against Quade, not against the Reds.
2) There is absolutely no need to make this a "state vs state" issue.
3) Quade Cooper has NOT been rejected, or banned from rugby, or deregistered or ANY SUCH THING.

If Cooper accepts this deal and plays next year he'll be taking a chance, perhaps (with $400,000 to bank on from the Reds). But if he plays well and corrects the flaws that even the most casual observer can see in his game, then he stands to be handsomely rewarded. He'd play between 13-18 tests (I don't know the final fixtures) at over $13,000, with additional cost of living allowances of $1750 per week away from home. That's about 7 weeks if it's like this year. That means that this PALTRY, INSULTING offer could net Cooper between $181,000 and $250,000 if he plays ever game, PLUS his $400,000 QLD Reds deal and all sponsorship money.

Yes - $181-250k is a good ways off the $500k he might have been on last year. But he hasn't played, hasn't shown any form, has has numerous off-field issues and to top it all off, yes, has faced internal disciplinary action.

Please, everyone, remove the tin-foil hats and look at this calmly and rationally.

Your speculation seems to support the ARU. I suspect you would offer a different view if this were a Tahs player.

Scotty, what utter crap. This situation has arisen WHEN THE PLAYER'S CONTRACT CAME UP FOR RENEWAL. Cooper is both injured and playing poorly FOR AUSTRALIA, not the Reds. When Horne's and McCabe's contracts come up for renewal I'd have no problem with them receiving a match payments-only top up from the ARU as well. Genia's obviously in a different category and should be offered the longest contract the ARU have at the moment.

Cooper got greedy (or listened to his clown of a manager), and risked all on a one year contract. He lost. To have his petulance relayed back to the press, and the wider rugby community, via Dunny Widdler says a lot about the people Quade mixes with. Was it fatprop who suggested he knuckle down, accept the match payments deal and prove his detractors wrong? There's a bit of good advice, Quade, take it.

...................The glee which has ensued from this announcement has left me feeling that this forum is not what I thought it was.

There are posters on here who I previously really respected who have shown themselves to be people that don't really care for the long term good of our game.................
Now, now, it's alright, 'they' have a right, and a place, and are consistent. I value consistency very much.

What I do think is a shame is that the lower contract offer is possibly due in some part because of Quades injury WHILE playing for the Wallabies.

I'm not believing too much of the latest news just yet but either way Quade, just play.

How much could this cost the ARU if Quade does walk away and blows the lid on everything, less than the top up refused?

IF, any of this is true......................
