The massive 19 year old league converted lock from Souths got a bit of a wrap by Doran on Fox. Anyone who's watched souths care to fill us in on whether he is as good as his highlights reel and worth a shot in one of the QLD teams?

looks fairly promising, having a massive frame is always a pretty good starting point. We don't have a luxury of tall timber in Australia, surely someone like the Tahs would be willing to take a punt on him.

no. I guess they wait for medicals to be done.

I believe players for both squads have been notified and yes, medicals are being held today (apparently).

I'm guessing there'll be some sort of public announcement next week at the earliest (about squads)

Good to see so much chat about NRC in the media. Can’t get squad lists anywhere - the Roar says the squads are named https://www.theroar.com.au/rugby-union/national-rugby-championship/nrc-squads/
then list 2018 squads! Hard to believe they’ll get many bums on seats other than relatives of players?

I think they try to avoid overlapping any advertising and marketing with club rugby like QPR and Shute Shield as to not detract from their finals.

QLD players know who’s in the squads, but hasn’t been released to the media yet because the QPR GF is still to play this weekend.

Hearing that Pat Morrey (UQ) has been picked by Melbourne Rising and Byron Ralston (Brothers) has been picked by the Western Force. So there is 2 who wont feature this year for QLD

yep Morrey was announced in the preliminary Rising squad a week or so ago.
