How does the UQ setup compared to the Bond rugby club?
always good come recruitment time having the prestige of Bond campus or the iconic sandstone building at st Lucia to woo recruits
but a rugby club dictated by a college campus and catering for other sports really limits the ancillary revenue opportunities that might present themselves
I think it would be detrimental for UQ to leave the campus and say become Taylor bridge rugby red heavies!
One advantage UQ will always have over Bond is location.
Looking through the lens of the aspiring player both head coaches are exceptionally good. For the student / player both Universities provide a high quality education, both have excellent facilities, I think Bond Rugby has a better club house etc now, but with UQ putting in the new clubhouse at the end of this season that will equal that out if not exceed. On history, I think UQ has a greater history to rely upon and a broader network off the park.
So if you were a Reds player, or in the Academy and you want to play your rugby at Bond, be prepared to spend some time in the car or club bus up and down the M1. If you were a UQ player Reds player, Ballymore would likely be a much closer prospect.
