You would think with a a RWC coming up, and the need for teams to train at suitable facilities The University of QLD would be wanting to get around UQ Rugby despite any differences they may have with the rugby club as its a fantastic opportunity to promote the University.
Incredible business opportunities too with successful folk like Mark Loane, Jeff Miller, Greg Martin, Nathan Sharpe, Steve Moore who appear to still be proud of their links to both the club and the university.

That's the rub; the fields, running track, residential living, and weight rooms belong to the university not the rugby club (not counting the small weight room under the clubhouse). The only thing the rugby club has control over is the clubhouse itself.

It would be nice but ultimately the university doesn't need to involve the rugby club to sell itself as a home base for the RWC.

The only thing that might change that is if the shiny new clubhouse is completed before the RWC.

How does the UQ setup compared to the Bond rugby club?

always good come recruitment time having the prestige of Bond campus or the iconic sandstone building at st Lucia to woo recruits

but a rugby club dictated by a college campus and catering for other sports really limits the ancillary revenue opportunities that might present themselves

I think it would be detrimental for UQ to leave the campus and say become Taylor bridge rugby red heavies!
