QLD Premier Rugby 2025

I know that’s two good performances for Sunnybank in two weeks but what is going on at Uni - the most inconsistent team in the comp.
Lots of chopping and changing between grades every week affecting chemistry, not suited to wet weather rugby, and an unfortunate run of injuries.

Great win for Norths Eagles. Coming off a 5 game losing streak, but most of those were competitive contests. Not sure where Goggins came from but he was best forward on ground by a long way.

Agreed, they hung on well.

He was a standout last year for them as well, I think he has just come off a trial and train with Force

Norths could have JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) back for the last 7-8games if not selected if eligible for wallabies thigh will make a difference and Harris back when Reds wind up which most clubs will get a boost from.

Anyone know when Will McCulloch is due back from injury?

I reckon Pendergast is due a run in Prems?

yeah i heard it from someone inside QRU. i personally dont believe it cos JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) is pretty positive whenever he mentions Norths on his socials and he also lives on the northside. Why would he even move unless he was instructed to do so by reds. Dunno.

that 4th spot on the ladder is really open with Bond (currently 4th), Souths (5th) and GPS (6th) all losing on the weekend.

Could of been a good opportunity to get a W there and move up the ladder or at least get closer to the other teams.

Last place UQ (gosh it feels good typing that) have the same amount of wins as 4th placed Bond

comp really isn’t out of the realm of anyone who is willing to get wins with BP in the 2nd round of competition
As a Uni supporter it’s a shock to see them bottom of the ladder but for 100% for perspective didn’t East’s finish 2nd last in 2024 with Norths beating them in both games?

Going to be an interesting last round but there really only looks to be 3teams who can win and Brothers have some serious cattle yet to rerun after Reds duties.

It is going to be interesting when the post Super season comes around with the BILions in town how many will be tied up with Wallabies, AUNZ, & Aust A squads. Reds also have a post season game against the BIL. You also find that a number of them head off for post season operations.
Then you have to deal with the disruption to a clubs existing combinations developed throughout the season but quality is quality.

Here’s my tips for this weekend’s games — let’s see who’s got it right! Feel free to jump in.

Souths over The Bank
If they play at their tempo, keep mistakes down and improve their discipline, The Bank will struggle to stay in it. Expect Souths to finish strong.
Uni over a depleted GPS
Uni up against a depleted GPS. GPS are missing some key players this week, and Uni will likely take control in the second half.
Bond just scrape in over Wests
Bond to edge it at home, but close one! Wests are gritty and will be up for the fight — should be a cracker.
East easy win over Norths
East to cruise past Norths. Norths always show heart but are up against it this week. East should be too strong across the paddock for the Eagles.

Who are you tipping this week?

As we head into the second half of the season — who’s calling their Top 4? Plenty of footy left but the race is well and truly on.

For mine:
Easts
Brothers
Wests
Souths — but with no confidence and more hope... just tipping them to edge out Bond!

What do you reckon? Who sneaks in, who drops out? Let’s hear your Top 4.

Hold on don’t know about an easy trip to Hugh Courtney Oval (Shaw Road) for the Tigers if you look into it Norths have been quite the boggy side for the Tigers of recent times - I think Norths have won 3 of the last 4 times at home and beat Easts twice last year.
So despite Easts undefeated record, they should make the trip North only cautiously optimistic. Some sides just match up well against a certain opponent and the Eagles will fancy their chances of springing an upset today.

Historically Norths have caused a number of teams to stumble at a hurdle on their way to finals footy and it may not be today but at some stage over the coming 9 rounds they will take down a scalp or two who fancy their chances of making the top 4.
