Practically Norths and Wests are both in the same position in terms of playing finals footy - they need to win 8 of their remaining 10 games.
At present GPS are in 4th with 16 points having played 5 games for 3 wins whereas Wests(15 points) & Norths(13) both clubs having played 6 for 2 wins.
GPS having had their bye potentially makes this a 5/6 point margin at the half way point of the season - mathematically it is not impossible for Wests or Norths but given their respective performances to date it seems highly unlikely that they can achieve 8 wins from 10 games to make the semis from here.

Wests finish the first half of the season -
GPS (round 7), Norths (8), bye,
Norths finish bye, Wests, Bond.
So both Wests and Norths will declare over the next three weeks whether either of them can make a real run at finals footy. Both clubs would like to pick up 2 wins over this period but obviously that can’t be the case for both clubs.

Crazy end to the Souths V Easts game on the weekend. Rule 6.1 or whatever but looked a tough call on the Magpies

Could they not agree?

Schrödinger's try - tough, but what can you do? Nothing on Stan that suggests Souths definitely got it down. Good that the ref held his conviction and didn't guess

I actually thought the previous infringement could have been a pen try. As it was earlier in the game.
Agree - thought it should've been a penalty try. Brave ref to make a call like that to decide a game though.
I also reckon everyone knew that ball was on the ground in the last play, the Easts blokes seemed like they were just hoping for the best from the ref.
Cracking game and regardless of any refereeing calls, exciting finish.

Nothing in the rules of rugby that says benefit of the doubt goes to the attacking team.
Herbert didn’t blow up about it and Jordan Way tried to get the best look he could. I can’t think anyone at the ground or even if they had a TMO could have awarded the try. JP probably had the best vision!
Sets up a big Bunter Bowl clash between the two undefeated sides in Brothers & Easts on Saturday at Bottomley Park.
