QLD Premier Rugby 2025

You're right we do want the best players playing BUT not just the reds. Easts have 3 guys that dont play in the reds but have played 4 games this season that would of played but aren't eligible. Being 2 Fijians and Brad Wilkin.

Dunno seems bit shitty that a reds player can swoop in and play 1 maybe 2 games to help win the comp when there were players that played back half of the season that cant play.

But hey thats just me.

I know its not new

Sounds like I was wrong and they are allowing it for all SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) players now.

That's not true & hasn't been the case for a few years (after COVID I believe), but they need to be registered by 1st March.

Was changed to all contracted players in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific) due to an increase of Drua & Rebels players and the want to increase the quality of QPR, but date was brought forward from June to stop stockpiling for Finals. Women's still has the same date cutoffs.

Well in that case I feel even more hard done by - GPS should be appealing the Hegarty situation from years ago when he wasn't eligible due to playing for the Rebels. That was a certain premiership gone missing!

Clearly this rule change was brought in just to benefit WESTS and their recent seasons of Rebels and Drua players being airdropped in. Bulldog can rant all the wants about red bibs, but the club has corrupted the QPR with foundational rule changes.

This place is turning into the schoolboy thread.…

On another note Josh Canham set to start for Bond against Easts, his first match of the season for Easts

*fixed spelling.
Bond are deserving of the kind of break that has served other clubs well in previous seasons. Josh will bring some much needed mongrel into the second row; and his ability to run and offload a la Harry Wilson will add quickfire venom on attack against a tired Easts forward pack. For Easts, Eli Pils will be in his most favoured of game environs - big game, at home in front of a big crowd. He will have a blinder that will leave many scratching their heads as to why he has never been called up to higher rep commitments. He, M Gicquel and K Herbert are the types that have deserved rep call-ups, but have been overlooked. Anyway, it will be a game down to the wire by two teams used to playing showcase rugby against each other; going point for point and pulling rabbits out of hats all the way to - and beyond - the 80th minute. Bond by 2 - either just before, or just after, full time.

Asks Souths how that lack of depth has helped them… one of the healthiest stocks of all clubs at the end of 2022, with a legitimate colts pipe line and plan…. Now 3 years of mistakes later - as @warhorse said “Catastrophic”

This js a quick list of players go exit to other clubs in the last 3 seasons - Catastrophic

Theo Fourie
Liam Fletcher
Henry Smith
Bas Hannah
Reece Meise
Ty James
Riley Kerr
Jake Morrison
Sam Von Blackensee
Hugo Smith
Caleb Brown
Mone Mafi
Saipele Tamilo
Ben Murphy
HMP
Dom Thygessen
Jakob Job
Harrison Angel
Will Nason
Dre DeLybn Cruse
Riley Brereton
Saxon Warwick
Slater Galloway
Copper Hoare
Te Ohorei Totorewa

There are more that don’t come to mind, but haven’t included coaching staff as well that were exited or left.

Hopefully questions start to get asked this off season!
Highly doubtful with the current on and off field hierarchy.
Plus Wilhem Johnstone and his Dad - 7 time Premiership winner, Wallaby and Red who was starting to get involved- Souths cant afford to lose that sort of Character

It was actually brought in listed caveats to make it fair for clubs to bring back players who are originally from there or have shown a commitment to the club early on, and to stop clubs from stockpiling later in the season as has happened in the past few years.

So Wests this season have had players ineligible because they did not register in March plus did not play the required games.

I believe 2 of the 3 Fijian Drua players met the minimum games qualified but it was simply a case that they got called up into the Fijian national team

Didn't Wests bring in Seru Uru for a preliminary final last year in a very similar fashion, i dont see it as a big deal given the context

parachuting in half the rebels team to one QPR team late in the season was a different story though, at least the Reds players are somewhat distributed across the teams

The Doggies will reap what they've sowed now until they can figure out the best way to recruit and retain players who aren't just there because they have been told to play or collecting a pay cheque.

But I am sure most Wests fan would call the Rebels venture a success based on the 2022 premiership they won.
