Qld Premier Rugby 2023

I hope I am proved to be wrong. Indeed life is cyclical and i would be delighted to see Norths get some finals footy at Ballymore.

I’m sorry but QPR isn’t cyclical.

This isn’t the AFL or NBA with a draft and systems in place to ensure teams down the bottom end up competing every 5-10 years with new top talent coming through.

Clubs make their own luck through the systems in place, whether that’s all above board is subjective.

Its been more than a few decades since Norths have made a legitimate push for a 1st grade premiership. Every other QPR club has won a title or two since then. They better not be relying on the ‘it’s their turn soon’ mentality or it’ll be a lot more lean winters.

Firing a coach every 2 years only to repeat what your doing is maddening.

I would stick with the current team at norths and show the next candidate that it’s a club that supports its staff

Louis Werchon - from 2nd grade hero to peripheral Reds player. Good finish to the year for him.

It's great to see Louis there, he's certainly one to watch for the future and I hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands. Buuut,

They should of picked prem grade players as there are enough quality halves to choose from. What does LD have to do? Let alone what Christian is thinking now that Louis is held in higher esteem. UQ to Brothers to...?

If they where going to pluck some one from obscurity how about Conor O'Reagan, playing in a losing team and showed some decent skill IMHO?

True , no doubt the Academy and U20’s would work in his favour, but still wouldn’t have him ahead of Dillon or Christian with regards to form QPR halfbacks. Brothers had Christian ahead of him all year.

Christian clearly a better year. Dillon barely played this year didn't he?

Was either offered a spot?

I think Werchon definitely deserves credit for his performance in Reggies, the issue I have is that I do not think he would have had the same impact in the Reggies GF if he were playing 9.......sooooo to get a 9 spot in the QPR challenge team....probably not in my opinion....Mosiah Christian and Hudson Meyer played every game (excluding Minor Semi for Hudson unfortunately due to the return of wonder boy Bobby Tuttle) and they both played consistently well the entire season and deserved a spot ahead of both Werchon and Pilz.

With that being said the QPR Challenge team is a Reds pathway, so if you are signed with Newstar it could be a problem. From reports Christian is currently training with the Rebels and set to travel with the squad to Japan, that is a win win situation for the men in Butchers Stripes.

Also not to deflect but how good does the Magpies coaching team look......with Ray Thomas on the books should we expect to see a handful of Bond recruits at the Nest? Will we see the return of past players, Jayden Ngamanu?

CFS showed out for the Brumbies on Thursday, would be good to see him back in a Magpies jumper.

What’s Ray’s background? I’ve never heard of him. Was he at Bond?

Yeah Christian is training with the Rebels so not selected in the team, which is good reward for him anyway

Is Wallis back with the Reds ? Had a contract 2020/21, then Rebels 2022.
Not signed as far as I'm aware, but the Rebels didn't re-sign him and I wouldn't be surprised if they were considering offering him a contract. Thorn was a pretty big fan of him when he was last with the Reds and he was one of the better backrowers in QPR this year. Anderson could well beat him to it though.
