Coming up to 50 years involved in rugby in some way and I gotta say I am about to give it away.
Have watched 3 live games today and now the brumby v blues game and am going to say it.
The referees are stuffing the game. Seems like they are in a competition to see who can be the worst with obscure decisions.
My just disappear off to some golf and fishing. Not worth the effort anymore to spend the hard earned on a poor product.

Judging by your posts lately, you’ve been quite frustrated with the game for a while now… Good luck finding a tee time though, I’ve been struggling lately!

As much as controversial decisions annoy me, I really don’t think this is the referees fault. If it were a one-off then you could blame an individual, but it’s occurring far too often which suggests there’s a bigger issue.

The common denominator in all this is subjective decisions based on overly complex rule books. Referees are merely the messenger for the failings of World Rugby.

Someone did a study on a standard test match, and found a referee has to make something ridiculous like 150 decisions in a game.

I think we should give referees a break, without them the games won’t go ahead, you can’t polish a turd(rule book).

The quality of refereeing has absolutely got better in QPR over the last couple years (this is easily observed by the amount of QPR referees doing super rugby matches)

unfortunately the rest of the other states do not produce enough referees up to super rugby standard (Graham Cooper and Angus Gardener are the only other Australian non-qlders doing games)

the flow on effect is Queensland club rugby suffers when we have to fly in and fly out our Queensland referees to do games in Perth/Melbourne/Canberra etc

So when is the Souths v Easts postponed game expected to be played?

can’t see any free weekends on the rugby calander - potentially a mid week fixture? That would be great for fans of rugby on Stan sport but a tough ask for the boys of Souths and Easts to play 3 games in 7 days.

Maybe they could shift the bye weekend (9/7//22) games involving Souths & Easts to Friday night, then they play on the Tuesday night, and then on Saturday that would give three clear days between games. Even play the Saturday game on Sunday.

Whenever they decide to play the fixture - think it’s going to be a good measuring stick for Stan sports and potentially looking for time slots outside the regulars Saturday afternoon fixture and seeing if there’s a appetite for midweek fixtures.

I think there’s an appetite for midweek fixtures from a Stan viewership perspective, but I’m not sure the clubs would be thrilled. They’d lose all their weekend can bar, food and fundraising opportunities. Even if all the lower grades still played on Saturday, majority of the crowd is there for 1st grade.

I think there’s an opportunity to bring in Sunday lunchtime fixtures in the near future (Friday night games would clash with Super Rugby). But unless there was a formal push by RA/QRU with financial backing from Nine to move QPR into a more semi professional direction, mid week games are a tough sell.

remembering that most or all of the players also work day jobs / study the concept of mid-week games would be very difficult to garner any support (unless there is a magic bag of money hidden somewhere to pay the players etc)

Yes that was my point - RA/QRU/broadcasters would need to come to the party financially. I don’t think it is something we will get in the near future. QPR still very much amateur comp.

All valid points about mid week fixtures and why it’s not likely.

Still can’t fathom how South’s can host all the lower grade games but pull the pin on the afternoon games, understanding that they relocated some games to Bulimba… why couldn’t you relocate the main event as well?

I would suggest it has to do with Video and Stan
