Interesting that Adams got the nod at 10.

As mentioned by another poster, he missed several chances to ice the game for Brothers. I guess there weren't many other performances deserving of the spot.

In terms of 10s with experience, Adams seems to be best suited if the Reds get into trouble over these next few weeks, assuming he strings together a couple of solid performances. I'd be persisting with Creighton at 10, and JOC (James O'Connor) is due obviously due back, but in the scenario where the wheels fall off, I'd rather go with someone like Adams than blood Lynagh too early.

It'll be interesting to see in which team young Tom is selected this week/next week when he's fit to play.

Haven't seen a lot of Adams but he seems solid.
The other one that impresses without the fanfare is Twidale. Very calm with good skills plus has been in QPR for a few years now.

My main query around Adams is why he got cut from the MLR.

The bloke has the credentials and skill level to be a star over there, granted I didn't see him play in that comp, but I find it odd he didn't get offered a new contract and ended up in QPR.

Maybe he falls away at the back end of close games, ala the goal kicking fiasco from the weekend.

I think Twidale has more to offer. Adams maybe just warming up and a couple more games may give him more confidence. I think Patty James was steering the ship really well last season, and I haven’t seen anything to suggest Adams is doing any better. Not having Hudson Creighton in the centres is missed. Is he coming back after Super Rugby is over?

My understanding of MLR is the pay rates are pretty low so in comparison to cost of living etc. Creates a mood where players are using it as a resume filler mostly and always looking for the next big opportunity or deal.

I have heard quite the opposite, club level players are paid approx. $50k USD for a 6 month contract, the cost of living over in the US, depending on your state is actually quite low (I have lived in a couple myself). Unless you're based out of NYC or wanting to live in the coastal suburbs of LA, you'll end up way in front compared to Australia in particular.

It is probably not the type of contract you'd take if you were late 20s with a family to support, but if you're young and wanting to explore the world, whilst being paid, or on the way to retirement and want to top up the superannuation, it's a good way to go.

Anyway, I have specifically heard Adams wasn't offered a new contract, so it doesn't sound like he had a choice.

Agree on US living costs ( did a stint there myself) but he was in Canada with Toronto.

Anyway there loss appears to be the filth's gain. Surprised he didnt go back to the land of the long white cloud though.

Aubrey not named for the Reds so I’m hoping he starts for GPS this weekend.

It’ll be interesting where he’s selected. Nicholson has been form fullback so far, playing out of his skin. In fact the GPS backline finally has some punch. Aubrey might slot into 13 with Rayment missing out.

The Reds players tend to get picked in QPR where the Reds’ coaches see them playing . Doubt there is anything binding , but I’m sure it gets a mention between coaches.

Vest started at #6 last weekend for UQ after previously playing all but one game in the second row over the past two seasons of QPR.

Imagine the Reds would see Aubrey playing at wing or fullback. I’m sure they will ask very politely.

Can Colts players get picked in this TOTW? Serious (sort of) question.

Ripley and Tierney both started Prems , didn't play Colts.

Would be no different to Grealy or Thomas getting a nod when they play. Grealy has only played Prems , never had a run in Colts.

Does Grealy have a brother kicking around in 2nd/3rds?

also seen a Flynn McDermott playing 9 in lower grades too.

Talentfinder beat me to it .

Flynn is a couple of years out of Colts, he looks like his brother. Even rocked the long hair and headband for a bit in his Colts' days, probably around the same time Thorn told his older brother to get a haircut. :)

Just saw the rebels squad this weekend. I guess sending cattle to qld serving a important match day fitness tune up.

Ripley straight into the 13 jersey
Sorovi and Maiava from the dogs onto the rebels bench.

Grealy’s brother was running around in Easts lower grades a couple of years back but I don’t know if he still is.
I think they went to school at Downlands.
