QLD Premier Rugby 2021

Harry Vella is on the bench for Colts 1. Is he eligible??? I wouldn’t have thought so.
He is U20 and played enough games , Brothers can pick him in whatever team they want.
Both 1st and 2nd grades now out , so makes sense.
Few years ago now Harry Wilson , Fraser McReight and Isaac Lucas played in the Colts 1 finals for Brothers and Sunnybank after playing all year in 1st grade .

Geez West’s that had game won with 4 mins to go.

What a brain snap to run that ball off their own tryline when defending a lead. Kick it down field and force the error, and it’s game over.

Great effort by GPS to get back into the game. I honestly thought they were shot early.

The clock on Stan had 2 mins to go when Wests ran the ball , that must kill a coach .

The Wests forwards just don’t appear to be fit enough to complete for the full 80, the defensive movement by some of the big fellas in the middle is poor, it leaves too much to do for the rest.

Great effort by GPS to come back from that start by Wests , it really looked like it was going to be Wests’ day early.

Wow crazy how GPS won that, some questionable decisions that I think went direction of GPS, but no doubt West’s gave up a winnable lead with some poor decision making and execution in the second half.

matter that maybe the West’s forwards didn’t have the fitness to go the full 80

We talk about Premiership windows and you’d have to think West’s missed a prime opportunity this year to win the Cup.

I’m not sure they’ll be seeing the likes of Carter Gordon, Issac Henry or Droasese at club level much next season. Those three had a massive influence this year and deserve to be regular Super Rugby players in 2022.

Video looked like the “winning” try was held up.

anyway, anyone know the penalty count?

Any team who gives up a 20 point lead shouldn’t cry about a buzzer beater loss. West’s had plenty of opportunity to close out the game. Weren’t good enough.

Maybe ask the fullback why he threw the worst pass of 2021 with 2mins to go on his own try line.

I'm no expert, but that looks like a try to me. The lack of any blow up from the Wests defender would also suggest that he did get the ball down. I'll leave you to go back on Stan and count PKs, felt relatively even though.

Big day for GPS coming up - Womens, Colts 1 and Prems all at Suncorp.

Would be quite the season if they could grab all three - I don't know the last time the club even had Prems and Colts 1 both playing in Grand Finals in the same year, possibly never.

Another cracker of a game as Wests up 24 to 3 you would think their game with also having a few more quality super rugby players in their ranks but GPS to their credit kept in the hunt. Few players in both sides worth looking at for some super rugby fringe spots for those teams still to complete their roster (cough...Tahs...)

Why was the Premier grade semi final played at the home ground of one of the teams contesting the game? Or was it a case of who whinges the loudest wins a prize? Not only must justice be done it must be seen to be done.

Critical moments come with how one uses the grey matter....they had time and space to boot it down field and get it out of their half and bet they would like to have that time back again.

Overall, I have no attachment of any of the teams in the finals this year, but really enjoyed those games, I thought they were high quality and entertaining.. maybe that’s 10 weeks of lockdown talking..

good to see passionate club crowds though
I thought both semi's were pretty high quality games and for the neutral had a bit of everything you want - ie uncertainty of result, quality rugby and a good sprinkling of super rugby players to spark some extra interest and quality.

I don't watch a lot of hospital cup games but these games were certainly a step up on past games I have watched which made for good finals footy. Things look pretty healthy in QLD rugby.

I am yet to hear from a Wests supporter who has been humble in defeat yesterday. Instead of finding things to blame, how about analysing why your team gave up a 24 -3 lead with a backline that was cutting GPS to shreds and had three Super Rugby players in it.

Also I don't think the Wests supporters group has been hard done by - geographically the closest club to GPS, the 12min drive from Sylvan Rd isn't exactly a challenge, there were plenty of supporters there.

Taking a loss isn't easy, but do you think the players in the change room would be blowing up about the venue after the game? No, they probably cared more about how they let that game slip away.
