Nick Cummins played QLD 2 Schoolboys before playing Colts at Sunnybank. He was identified by a Randwick scout whilst playing in a 7s carnival in Wide Bay where his older brother was living at the time.

Any early top 4 predictions?

Souths, Easts, Bond, Wests.

Clearly this relies upon both Uni & Sunnybank having off years but sometimes this happens.

It also relies upon Bros struggling in the halves without their 2015 pairing for most of the season, and GPS rebuilding under Dammers.

Bulldog - I doubt Brothers will struggle in the halves. Grasso and James both have NRC experience and both are from Nudgee. When Brothers had a full Nudgee old boys backline back in the day, things gelled very well. It must be the style of play incorporated at the Nudge.

Anyway, I doubt Uni will miss out on the four. One of the Uni members of GAGR (could have been Cat or RH) stated that Uni would be hard to beat in 2016 - for me, that's sounds right. They have very strong colts and grades at the moment which assists to propping up Premier Grade when injuries occur.

Would like to see Wests make the four. The Dogs haven't made it since 2007. Consequently, that was the year Bothers finished 5th. Let's hope the latter doesn't occur.

Filth my apologies my views were based upon Brothers not having Fowler (2015 #9 now at the Rebels??) and Greene missing much of the season due to Reds duties but Grasso & Tuttle are handy replacements.

Mind you I do believe that Grasso's best years are behind him. I thought his best years were when he played for Bros I don't think he was ever at his best at GPS so maybe he will be revitalised in his return to Crosby.

I think Easts will be relying on another Nudgee product in Pillz to fill the void left by Mullins' retirement.

Bulldog - According to the Courier Mail, Easts will have Mack Mason at flyhalf this year. The Tigers also have the possibility of Adam Deck at 9 as well. A young combination but both talented players.

I have heard that Matt Brandon is still intending to play for Easts this year, so competition for the number 10 role. Mullins is definitely gone.

I thought Adam Deck went to NZ in 2015? Nelic do you know about his movements for 2016? Filth has Fowler gone to the Rebels?

Fowler is definitely down in Melbourne for the duration of the U20s, longer if he wins a contract. I heard this from a former team-mate.

Deck was definitely playing club rugby in Wellington in 2015. I believe he's actually a kiwi too, so I wasn't sure he'd ever come back.

Also heard a rumour that Anthony Matheson has returned to take up an S&C gig at BBC. Can anyone confirm?

Tony Mathison steps down

It is with deep regret we announce that Tony Mathison has resigned as head coach of Young Munster’s with immediate effect for personal reasons, and is returning to Australia.

This obviously is not ideal when we are into the AIL season and facing a massive period of games in the next 7 weeks starting with the crucial trip to Ballinahinch on Saturday but unfortunately is beyond our control.

In the Short term period until we decide what will do John Staunton our director of Rugby has kindly agreed to step back in as head coach and work with Ian Keatley, Conor McPhilips, Ger Slattery and Dave Moriarty in preparing the seniors.

Yes indeed Steve Stevesteve.... We are changing our training venue back to own club fields from tomorrow night after spending the first 3 weeks of the year at Kedron AFL.
Just giving our grass a break.
So excited to get back home to a crossbar!

Just heard Souths prop Davey Feao is off to play in France. Not sure at this stage which club but he will be missed at the Nest but we wish him every success and safe travels.

Great news. I had the privilege of coaching Dave when he was younger. I'm not afraid to say he could be a little scary even at 16. Wonderful kid though and deserves all the success he can get.

It's actually not such a bad thing for Souths. Feao has been one of Souths' best over the last six years. However, this creates an opportunity for another magpie front-rower to develop in the Premier Grade competition.

Bond Uni prop Izzy Rapata has had a pretty decent off-season by the look of this...
