Easts 54

Bob McCowan (2)
Brothers knocked off Easts 28-22, even with a player Red carded for doing nothing, we still won. Bond easily out played his opposite player scoring a great try. I think Easts have got potential, but I honestly think that Brothers are just a better side on their day. Some Easts supporters are bloody arrogant though, I can't understand why.the scoreboard had the last laugh, no stab at the true Easts supporters though.

Your comments in regards to the red card offence are appalling. Clearly you didn't see the incident. The Brothers No. 4 STOMPED repeatedly on the Easts player's head. It was the worst case of deliberate foul play I have seen for years.

The referee clearly saw the incident and immediately issued a red card. It is now up to the rugby judiciary to give this player the maximum penalty. There is no part in our game for this type of thuggery. I ony hope that Brothers officials also take a dominant role in discouraging this type of behaviour.

Since when does once become "repeatedly". All day on both sides players were off feet hugging the ball close to the body and head in attempt to pilfer.

Going from what I've seen from about U14's to Premier in the past few years, I find that this type of play is definatly not something the club tries to stamp out. It can get disgraceful at times.

Tiger land what were your thought on white v bond? I felt tua had a very strong game, he and Brandon caused the brothers defence a few headaches

Sorry mate, I was a mile away from it when it happened, someone told me it was for a punch, others for infringements. Overall, its disappointing to end a game on it.

I thought they both were fairly average to be honest. But I'd give it to Bond on points decision, kept White quite and made a few decent runs.

I also thought Toua tried to over play his hand slightly, but did think he made some good plays. Brandon was good as always. Both him and Murphy had very good games I thought.

I really was not expecting the Easts pack to get outplayed at the ruck. The pigs have been very dominant in that department for most of the year, but Brothers pack used the refs interpretations to their advantage.

One thing that did shit me was Mullins' service, he takes 3 steps sideways before passing. Brandon is a fairly common "crabber" as well, so it leaves Cox and White very cramped. Sean Cox did well though and I thought he ran some good straightening lines.

Just for the record I am a fan of Jack Mullins. I never responded to that captaincy debate, but it was out of curiosity of WHY he was skipper, not saying that he shouldn't be.

Wow I have a completely different opinion of the Brothers v Easts game.

I thought it was a very large crowd both teams almost equally supported in numbers. I am not sure what equates to an arrogant supporter?

I think the 6 point difference was a very accurate reflection of the two sides. If anything Easts forwards might have outplayed Brothers. It was an extremely physical game. Easts could have won it in the last play if they had of passed the ball wide instead of trying to pick and go to get over the line. 4 players were unmarked with half the width of the field. Instead Brothers were able to force a penalty for not releasing.

The Murphy with the long hair, wore 15 but played fly half was good as was Bond and the 12.

The Easts second rowers are having their best year, doing plenty of the tough stuff.
Brandon had a very poor kicking game, both for goal, for touch and in general play. A complete opposite to last week. T.White didn't see much ball or space, Cox at 12 tackled his guts out and is slowly getting fitter. Tuoa was the Tigers best back , an awesome double cut out pass to set up Wylder's try.

After this game I am tipping these 2 teams to meet in the final and the same result as 2008.

I'm the opposite ECA, I reckon Brothers would win if a final happened. I reckon Brothers won't let 2008 happen again, where abouts were you sitting? Where I was, there were hardly any Easts supporters...also a lot of our club were in the clubhouse for Ladies Day!

I didn't get to see this one, did Norths play well or were we ordinary. The pain in my head is building each week!
Brilliant first half. 5 very good tries, then ought they had the game wrapped up in the 2nd half and gold coast were in front 44-43 with not long left before la motta crashed over for the winner. Very ugly win, but a win nonetheless. That Fijian winger Veresa Mataitini (Vuki), is worth the trip on a Saturday Arvo to watch, some unreal tries scored by him, and I believe is now leading try scorer in the comp.

I agree, Vuki is up to 10 tries now for the season and he has bombed at least another 4 or 5. As I said some time ago, he has some serious wheels.

Mate that is a incredibly inaccuarate and biased view of this game - and to say Easts supporters are arrogant thats one of the most hypocritical things i've heard come out of a filth supporter in a very long time. Thats pretty much all Filth supporters are known for.

But anyway heres a more accurate description of the game:

1. Brothers weren't on top the whole game - they scored 2 tries off quick turn over ball against the run of play. They were more or less were just lucky tries that didn't reflect any form of dominance they had on the game at the time.
2. The referees management of the break down was appaling. I couldn't believe the number of times I witnessed brothers illegally slowing down Easts ball while the ref stood there and did nothing.
3. Easts scored a game winning try right at the end that Easts and Brothers fans both witnessed. How that wasn't awarded is beyond me.
4. The number 4 was rucking an Easts players head and the red card was well and truly warranted. That kind of stuff is ridiculous and shouldn't ever be seen at the top level. Hopefully the judiciary deals with him appropriately

If I was an Easts player I would feel well and truly robbed. The scoreboard was not an accurate reflection of the better team. I guarantee that when these 2 meet each other in the finals we will get a different result to that.

But Brothers may as well cherish that win because they won't be seeing to many of them next year without Dallan.

I agree mostly with this, but i would describe the Brothers tries as opportunistic, not lucky, it shows that to beat Brothers you can't let your guard down as they are very good at finishing when given an opportunity.

I too thought the breakdown was poorly managed, players not releasing, lying on the wrong side hands in the ruck etc.

Unfortunately I was too far away to see if there was a try scored at the end. I thought they should have passed it wide to score at the end, but if they did score and the ref missed it they should feel a little hard done by and use that as motivation for round 2 at home.

I would love to see the rucking incident on film, does anyone have access to the match video? If so they should put the clip up on this site. Time for a G&GRleaks series.

Plenty of chat about the Brothers v Easts game. Two weeks in a row for Brothers where the breakdown hasn't been managed very well. Worked out better for GPS a fortnight ago and Brothers got the better of it last week. Not condoning stomping but the poor refereeing of this area has clearly frustrated a player into a brain snap.
