To top it off the stand in coach thought his backs were impressive. Someone get that rookie the tape of the game so he can see just how impressive they were'NT! I am a die hard Breakers supporter but being positive is one thing totally blind is another. Turn it up coach or go back to club rugby!

Thanks for the report Tigerland. Sounds to me like Paraka is holding his own against grown men, so that would augur well for his future. There is some good young cattle in the Easts forward pack. Like Dan54 I'm also glad to see Wilder went well. His glide and evasiveness in attack is very underrated.

Yep Sully, lol just don't know if I can put 3rd tier on our games .lol boys would kill me!! Actually boys went bloody well against the Bank on Sat, I actually thought in opening 10 minutes we were going to really struggle, S'bank looked very sharp, and pretty sizeable in backline, but Logan I thought soaked up early pressure, adjusted their game and played some good rugby. Score was 17-7 at halftime, and Sbank definitely were on top in 2nd half ,but Logan boys have obviously worked on defence at training and held them out well. We got a couple of players came over from Redlands who are looking not to bad, and James Sua ex Reds/Manawatu etc player has come back to club after many years, so look not bad. I really also like the play of our 10, he been with club all his life, he real skilled, reads game well (actually Marto's nephew so perhaps in blood) and could quite easily play at higher level I think.

Logan out enthused Sunnybank on Saturday. They played a committed aggressive style and deservedly came out on top. Sunnybank missed some opportunities early on but it was a credit to Logan that they sustained the pressure and when they had the opportunity the managed to score. The score was 17-7 at halftime but that favoured the home team as the visitors left points on the field as their kicker missed at least 3 shots at goal and a couple of try scoring opportunities went begging. Logan then put in a really good defensive effort in the second half to hold out Sunnybank who couldn't manage to score.
The 7 for Logan had an outstanding game and was responsible for a number of turnovers. Sua also had a big influence on the game and seemed to have a calming influence on the rest of the team.

In Premier grade Sunnybank came out all guns firing after their disappointing outing on Tuesday night. They scored 3 tries in the opening half and look crisp and precise in most areas of the game to take a 30-0 lead into the half. After half time Sunnybank crossed for their fourth try and secured the bonus point but then seemed to switch off and tried to play some razzle dazzle rugby. They stopped doing the simple things, like clearing out at the breakdown and not trying to throw miracle passes. As a result they turned over a lot of ball. With the increase in possession the Stingrays looked a more composed team and managed to cross for 3 tries, one a 70m intercept. Sunnybank had the final say in the match with a try at the end that couple have gone either way. The Stingrays winger went for the intercept and must have been close to pulling it off but the ball ended up in the hands of the Dragons winger who strolled over to end the game 44-21.

How is Dion Taumata controlling things for Sunnybank Jets? And has Waita Setu gotten much game time aswell?

Dion Taumata was great with the boot. His kicking game both at goal and out of hand are great. He also seems to take the option to run when the defence over commit to presuring his kick.
Waita Setu played off the bench in reserve grade and looked very promising for someone who has spent the majority of his tim playing league since leaving school. I expect he will be pushing for a start in Premier in the coming weeks.

Cheers Ta Jets, saw up to halftime of your prem game and then had to go. Wondered what had happened in 2nd half. Geez that captain of yours is a good size Jets, good to see locks that built like locks tall and rangy.

Yeah Kriukey is a great asset to the team. Seems to be able to steal lineout ball at will. Also a really good leader. Could potentially get the record for most Prem games at the club as he's 26 or 27 and has over 100.

Jets I do believe you are right - lets hope his chicken legs can get him past the current record holder.
And that would be the one and only T Sampson on 173 I believe, followed closely by his good mate D McConaghy on 167 (?).
What a loss that was to lose him to the tigers. Hopefully he will return to the Den one day soon.

QRU Media Release: St.George Queensland Reds talent boosts round three of Queensland Premier Rugby

St.George Queensland Reds powerhouses Radike Samo and Albert Anae will go head to head in a critical encounter between GPS and Sunnybank this Saturday during an intriguing third round of the Queensland Premier Rugby season, with the defending champions sitting just three points behind the third-ranked Gallopers.

Samo produced a starring 80-minute performance in Jeeps’ first round win over Norths and will again provide the x-factor this week when they take on Sunnybank, who are boosted by Anae and are gaining speed after notching their first win of the season last week.

In their last encounter the Dragons’ star-studded line up ended the Gallopers season with a 51-13 humbling in the 2011 Minor Semi-Final, but GPS prove a more formidable opponent this week as they look to scratch out last year’s loss.

The Gallopers’ tight five-point win over Souths in round two leaves them undefeated in 2012 and one of the clear top three in the competition, along with Brothers and University.

Sunnybank flyhalf Dion Taumata will look to back up last week’s perfect kicking performance as he lines up against Smith, but their engine room - headlined by Anae - will have to fire to quell the try-scoring ability that saw GPS run in 28 points in round one.

The stakes are high for the Dragons - holding their position in the top four by just one point over Easts and Souths - but a dominating 44-21 performance against the Sunshine Coast last week will send them confidently into the round three clash at Old Mac Oval.

With GPS and Sunnybank set to battle at third and fourth on the ladder, the opportunity opens up for Easts to leapfrog into the top four this week when they take on the Sunshine Coast at Stockland Park.

The Tigers receive a huge boost for the encounter with the return of instrumental flyhalf and kicker Matt Brandon, but the Stingrays’ three-try second half effort against Sunnybank last week will give them confidence as they look to keep in touch with the competition, despite being the only team yet to secure a point this season.

It’s Brothers who have set the benchmark for the competition to this point, looming undefeated atop the ladder after an ominous 60-19 overwhelming of Wests in round two, characterised by impressive combinations throughout the field and a hat-trick to fullback Damon Murphy.

The eighth-ranked Norths have the challenge of meeting the firing Brothers this week at Hugh Courtney Oval after suffering a 21-point loss to University in round two while again missing injured captain Carlos Gavidi, who was their only try scorer in their 30-18 loss to Brothers last year.

Despite their humbling loss to Brothers last week, Wests scored all their points in the second half and will look to carry on from that form when they line up against the Gold Coast on Saturday at Pizzy Park, after the Breakers were kept try-less in their 19-6 loss to Easts.

After penalties cost the Gold Coast last week, they will look to hone their defensive efforts and return to the winner’s circle when they take on the Bulldogs, who are yet to record a win.

University are continuing to build form this season, with their clinical win and six-try haul against Norths last week showing a marked improvement from round one and catapulting them to second on the ladder before their clash against Souths at Chipsy Wood Oval this week.

The Magpies will prove a difficult task on Saturday, having shown strength and intensity at the breakdown in their narrow five-point loss to GPS last week and recording a sounding win against Sunnybank in round one.
