Yeah, I'm playing a wait and see on that one too- see who rocks up to training. Wouldn't be the first time Courier Mail has made a big call that didn't come off.

Hoping Tevita Kuridrani is back this week, but Jono Lance is definitely playing also.

And I never feel sorry for the Filth... :D

And if anyone ever dreams of feeling sorry for the filth they should wake up, immediately apologise and go to confession

UQ will have Giteau, Lance, Porter (Samoan WC squad), Morahan, Davies, Hanson, Shepherdson, Prior. Whilst the filth will have Chambers, Shipperely and Murphy. Fuck really thinking of going to watch this instead of Easts vs Norths

For any astute observers of Uni this weekend, you'll see the 2 hookers wearing 24 & 25. This is because the #2 has been retired throughout the club this season, and the club will not be replacing Halley Appleby's #16 reserve hooker jersey in Prems. If you look closely you may also see that each jersey has been embroidered with a HA just below the V-neck of the jersey.

The small amount of fuel in my car has made the decision for me, down the road to Easts it is.
Easts should get up relatively easily in this one, despite the injuries. Norths are really struggling, plus White, Krelle and Tupou are back for the Tigers.

Chambers didn't play for the Filth, missed training and was dropped. An impressive effort from Brothers for defeating such a star-studded Uni side.

Wow! that is an impressive result. Did Shep look out of his depth?

UQ dominated their game early, got an early penalty and then scored a try. But then Brothers started to click and really played well.

Stand outs for mine were:

Brothers - The Murphy Brothers (Dallan @ 10 and Damon @ 15) were superb and I thought Grasso @ 9 and Shipperley on the wing were also excellent. Simon Price @ 8 and then some big boppers up front Maki, Dixon and Tabala are strong buggers but with some skills.

For Uni - their skipper Tim Aistrope was prominent, whilst Dave McDuling was a considerable physical presence. Herman Porter at 12 was very strong whilst Jono Lance controlled things well at 10, whilst also showing his attacking flair.

Wallaby Watch:
- Hanson was busy in tight and worked hard.
- Giteau took a while to get into the game after coming on with 30 to go. Showed some glimpses of class and did nothing wrong (other than a harshly called forward pass). Didn't really threaten to cut lose though.
- Davies didn't get into it too much. A cracking kick chase and take was the stand out and he was replaced with about 30 to go. Shipperley played better than him I reckon.
- Luke Morahan played 13 and was strong. Didn't think he took the right/best options every time but is a classy player.

Brothers outplayed Uni- simple as that. They're clear at the top of the table for a good reason.

I went out to watch GPS v Sunnybank. GPS were deserved winners, the margin could've been bigger. On the Wallaby watch, Samo started quite slowly, didn't have his usual work rate, scored one very good try though. He did a little too much seagulling for mine.

Interesting there's 5 good sides and 5 poor sides, quite a gulf.

The side that finishes 5th and misses the finals will be gutted. I wonder why there is such a gap?

Samo might have done a little too much seagulling for you but you don't seem to have any understanding of what the effect of him just being on the field had for the young GPS team. It was immense.

I don't believe there is a single answer to this there are a few key components. Successfull clubs have their financial, player development, coach development, cultural and administrational houses in order. For but a few clubs this is cyclic - some on longer cycles than others! Personally I am frustrated that there is not a more equitable distribution of new contracted players but I guess success attracts success (and a few perks on the side..).

Having said all that Norths beating Easts yesterday does indicate that the gulf can be closed.
