QLD GPS Rugby 2021

Old mate Japie has released his top 20 schools of 2020. Apparently not enough played in SA this year so didn't include any SA schools which opened up a few positions. BBC top of the Aus pile unsurprisingly. Guy does his homeowrk.

Andrew Scotney confirmed as Nudgee first xv coach again for 2021. The gyms around Brisbane will be packed over summer with Nudgee boys trying to earn a spot in the squad come week 1 term 1

A team featuring some of the best schoolboy rugby players on the planet has been created by NextGenXV. The much-debated team features a selection of young rugby players from around the globe.
.

NextGenXV are specialists in schoolboy rugby content, and after many hours of deliberation and discussion, they have picked this team as their schoolboy XV for 2020.
13) Jack Howarth (Brisbane Boys/Australia)
This year’s Brisbane Boys team were a once in a generation outfit, the first team from the school to win a GPS title since 1954. A once in a generation team needed a once in a generation player and Jack Howarth was that player.
A hard running and powerful centre Howarth terrified opposition defences in the GPS this year and was one of the leading lights in the competition. After being part of the Brisbane Boys 1st team since Grade 10 it was poetic that he would lift the GPS title having come so close in 2019.
Howarth was the star player for Brisbane Boys College, who featured prominently in the RugbyPass series on the school in 2019.
11) Joseph Sua'ali'i (Kings Parramatta/Australia)
There could be an argument that Sua'ali'i is the most talented prospect on this list, and if you listen to the hype coming from Australia you could argue that he may be the most talented school rugby prospect seen in the game.
Sua'ali'i has been a first-team rugby player since the age of 14, which is unheard of and especially unheard of at one of the world’s leading rugby schools. At age 15 he was already the same height as his idol Israel Folau and was at the center of a tug of war between Rugby Australia and various Rugby League clubs with salary offerings in the millions of dollars.
6) Zac Hough (Brisbane Boys/Australia)
Anyone that has watched Zac Hough play will tell you that this is a player that wears his heart on his sleeve, a player that plays every match with a frightening intensity and was a key part of Brisbane Boys’ first-ever outright GPS title win.
Hough may not be the biggest loose forward you will see at this level but don’t let that for a second fool you, the youngster is willing to take on all comers and size is of little importance to him. Watch his footage and you will see a player that relishes the physical confrontation and will fight for every inch. His ability to break the line is way beyond his years and to give you some perspective about the youngster’s talent and how much we rate him, he still has another year of schooling left and is the only Grade 11 player on this list.
How are schools stacking up next year? Any favourites emerging..?

2021 is easy . It is a 2 horse race. Both NC & BBC have 9 boys back and were 2 best teams last year.
However grand final is R 1 at Nudgee v BBC. BBC will miss Howath & Mason more than the boys leaving Nudgee.
If Nudgee 13 does not go to Roosters -then Nudgee wins.

Looks like the draw has totally changed from previous years. Something about aligning the various sports. BBC plays both NC and TSS away this year. NC v BBC in round two now. Hopefully full crowds are back this year!

Well that makes it tough for BBC-but they are the only school with 2 players( Taj and Zac) back for 3rd year in 1st xv.

Any chance you could share the draw or where it can be found. Cheers

That will be the Grand Final I think.
TSS will be good in 21 and very good in 22

Why do you say that especially for 22 - Their 16as last year were middling and their 15A's arguably the bottom team and 14A's no better - on face value I was thinking they were in for a very barren run over the next few years.

They would need to grab some new talent and much of that is already allocated.

What am i missing??

You are not far off the mark. More like 10 of them in grade 11 ( a record loss hurts)
You can also add in :
- new old boy ( rugby playing) HM ;
-a deal with GC Titans that boys going to TSS can play RL in term 2= new talent flow.

Yes- for the last decade there has been an uneasy relationship between TSS and Titans because they would not let the boys play Mal Meninga Cup during term 2.If that has now changed -then it spells trouble for the other schools=direct pipeline of players.
But this year the GF is R2 at Nudgee v BBC . That loose forward trio at BBC are all back plus the 1st choice number 8 from last year who was injured and did not play a match. That really worries me =depth.

Do not be concerned Mr BW .Take out Howarth and his 16 tries last year - and BBC cannot beat NC. Also your 13 Robert T is the best player in the comp this year.Be a good match though. Hope crowds are allowed- would be massive. I hear it is NC Old Boys day v BBC.
