QLD GPS Rugby 2021

EVAL 1

Yes- for the last decade there has been an uneasy relationship between TSS and Titans because they would not let the boys play Mal Meninga Cup during term 2.If that has now changed -then it spells trouble for the other schools=direct pipeline of players.
But this year the GF is R2 at Nudgee v BBC . That loose forward trio at BBC are all back plus the 1st choice number 8 from last year who was injured and did not play a match. That really worries me =depth.

Thats impressive having those 3 loosies back at BBC. TSS have their front row back this year? Anybody know if there is a Queensland U18 school boys this year?

Churchie looking for a new 1st XV coach.
The long term good relations and tours to St Kentigans, Kings and St Andrews sees three new players - front row, Number 8 and outside centre entering on a new school exchange program. Front rower is huge - 120kg. Number 8 is the son of famous All Black backrower and outside centre trainined with Crusaders academy.
The South African exchanges unfortunately did not go ahead due to Covid.

Interesting -and Churchie sent over to them as an exchange ? basketballers /volleyballers ? Why not call it what it is : scholarships . Good on them-I say.

Interesting ACGS has also added a couple of pretty good 16 year old's to the fold from the local club comp - I expect them to be a pretty hot team in 2022, if not before.

Believe the Churchie coach has gone to a role at the Reds. Think Churchie has their eye on 2022 as a big year.

It still appears on a Seek search with a min of $80K but gone at $100. Probably in the range of teacher salary.

Glen Vaihu , GT First XV 2017/18/19 named on the bench for the Rebels for the game this Friday against the Reds .

Wessells was asked about up and coming talent on Stan’s Rugby Heaven show last night and without hesitation mentioned both Glen and David Vaihu as well as Carter and Mason Gordon.

Throw in Rhys Van Rek and Trevor Hosea both BBC 2017 and you have a pretty decent quota of recent GPS graduates down in Melbourne .

How many in this squad are from Qld include the men now in the other state?

From the quick scan look like Nathan Grey has named this based on a few guess and the hunch.

They have a “squad” or “people of interest” that they keep an eye on through watching live streams of games and reports back from the Academies. It’s ongoing and built over a few years.

The bulk of the U18’s squad from 2019 is there, only four missing from what I can see and two of them have signed with the NRL.

The squad normally gets trimmed back for Camp 2 where they play a Probables v Possibles trial before then announcing the final squad. So the coaches and selectors would have spent a couple of weeks with them before that happens.

Nice moment before the Brumbies match on Sat night when the 3 BBC boys( Banks/Swain/Ikatau) had a little huddle.
Clear Swain 2015 1st xv captain -still has a big influence on Lenny.
Great video Rugby Australia put out on Lenny showing plenty of highlights of his brilliant 2016 year =including winning try on bell v NC.

There is something very special about Lenny. Watch him closely.

Must be something special in the Brumbies culture that is attracting all these great GPS schools players to play down there.
