Re imports, Nudgee won almost every game again on the weekend through to the lower grades like they have all season and so maybe instead of the “imports” conspiracy, it’s a rugby culture that wins them the games across the board. They attract the top rugby talent to the school due to their unique rugby culture and all the other schools have more or less the same cheque book they throw at prospective students.

Nudgees strength has always been its large boarding population (correct me if I'm wrong).

TSS vs BGS: Hopefully TSS go easy on BGS. I doubt it. I haven't looked at the record books, but surely they are on track to being the highest for and against 1st XV ever. This game could hit 100 points, but I think TSS will treat this like a bye and rest regular starters (they have BBC at Miskin next round), so maybe only TSS by 50.
NC vs TGS: TGS are in trouble, big, big, trouble. They are looking worse every game. NC don't even need to rest players because of the bye next week and can probably score on TGS at will. NC by 40 before running on the 3rds.
BBC vs IGS: Both teams won't be holding anything back. BBC forwards to run the bigger IGS pack off their feet and be the difference in the end. BBC backs vs IGS backs will be a great match-up, Mason Gordon and company not rated highly enough. BBC by 3.
ACGS vs GT: Honestly no idea. Both teams are not firing this year and could probably lose to their own 2nd XVs on the day. High scoring game with non-contested scrums and lots of dropped balls and missed tackles. As Churchie are at home and must be desperate for a win this year, ACGS by 1.

Spot on. IGS and BBC will be close. IGS will be firing after last week’s performance. BBC defence has been good holding 2 teams to nil. Gordon’s goal kicking looks to be on point and probably the decider.

There is more than one reason that I am sure you, and others , have their views on but let’s start with :

1. 3 x FIrst Squad Front Rowers missing for the first 2 to 3 rounds
2. A First Squad lock / back rower and a First Squad back rower missing for 2 of the first 3 x rounds
3. A First Squad No 10 missing for first 3 x rounds
4. 2 x First Squad Centres / Outside Backs missing for the first 3 rounds

That’s 8 guys that would be playing Firsts or Seconds where majority of them would be seeing field time in Firsts at least off bench

So yeah ...at least half the team have been 3rds players who have battled as best they can and helped to keep games close -but when your front row and playmakers are gone - it’s going to be a battle . But - credit to Churchie and Terrace - who may not have the same top line talent in Firsts / Seconds but have much deeper talent from 2nds fringe / 3rds down

Churchie 2nds especially - outside of 3 or 4 spots any one of those guys could easily play Firsts.

The good news is that nearly all of the 8 are back and right to go so I don’t really see too many , if any, losses from here

There will be a min 2-3 first choice players returning who have not played yet this season there was at least that running on last week vs DC. Time will tell, great problem to have.

Didn’t DC win convincingly? After watching the Churchie and Terrace steamed games I thought the team looked pretty good. I was actually getting a bit nervous.

The BBC team has 17 points scored against them in 3 games, they are playing well against very average teams but this weekend should prove a good gauge.

Hard to get a call on BGS/Churchie after their draw and with no vision available on doubletake but GT were awful on the weekend. Their effort against Nudgee was courageous and if they could get their play makers to make more team oriented decisions, value possession, put together 10+ phases of pressure and had a goal kicker, then yes, perhaps they would beat a couple of teams. Still calling no wins for this year.

On a positive note the 16A's have won 3 of 4 with their only loss by 5 so maybe next year they'll be back.

I have links to both schools going back several generations and saw the game. It was the worst game of rugby that I have ever seen...neither side could catch a cold. The BGS first try showed some enterprise with a short side move from a scrum. After that, all tries were from opposition errors, e.g. Churchie 13 toeing through a dropped ball and outpacing BGS twice. Thankfully, the draw means that neither side will win a game this season as neither deserve to.

I think Churchie can win against Terrace ( who basically don’t have a set piece ) that will give them their 1st win if the season

After that , I don’t see Churchie winning again

If you look at the bottom half of the table I reckon :

Grammar go through without a win
Churchie end up with 1 x win
Terrace end up with 1 x win
State High end up with 3 x wins
TGS end up with 4 x wins

And Downlands beat them all

In yesterdays game the IGS 14A forward pack were outstanding and dominanted the breakdown.

Their scrum was so powerful that we won 3 against the head and

their talented No10 had the game on a string.

Caw Blimey Nudgee Dad, you'll give yourself a heart attack. Take it easy you've got 4 more years to go. Looks to me like the young Ippy lads had a good win over your lad and his team. Good on 'em I say.

My last week's tip of TGS to put up a spirited showing at TSS on Old Boys Oval in very chilly conditions proved to be way out as the TGS backs refused to (or cannot) tackle. I don't believe I have ever seen such poor defence from a TGS First XV. If the TGS 2nds can beat TSS 25-7 surely there needs to be some changes. Boys who can tackle would be a good start. At least I predicted that Nudgee would have no trouble with Ipswich and so it proved.

But they're not so NC need to sort it out for next season or it will be 50-0 to IGS.

So NC backs need a strong forward pack to score points, without it they can't ,is that what you're saying?
