Yep , went uncontested after the second GT prop went off in the 2nd half , had a couple off injured in the 2nd XV as well , basically ran out of props .

My goodness me -uncontested scrums in 1st xv .Unheard of.
Mr Patriot and Mr Brave & Game -what shall we do?Your were very critical of uncontested scrums in a 14 A match.Do your same views apply now?Do GT forfeit or lose points?
What comes around .......
I mean as you both pointed out"they have had 2 terms to sort it out" Shit happens you know.

Slightly different starting a game with uncontested scrums and going uncontested in the second half due to injuries to props.

They had a couple of uncontested scrums today in Prem Grade when 2 Jeeps props were shown yellow within about 30 seconds of one another and had already lost a prop to injury, they had no props left to bring on.

Shit happens, no one is accusing them of using it as a tactic to avoid scrums .

Tipping results yet Jets?
I think this season still has plenty of entertaining and dangerous games left. The talk about the comp being over smells of either bitterness or gloating.

I stand by my comments.
GT lost the game mate and have no points to lose

Disagree. Against ACGS and BGS, I would fancy their chances at this point in the season.

Hard to get a call on BGS/Churchie after their draw and with no vision available on doubletake but GT were awful on the weekend. Their effort against Nudgee was courageous and if they could get their play makers to make more team oriented decisions, value possession, put together 10+ phases of pressure and had a goal kicker, then yes, perhaps they would beat a couple of teams. Still calling no wins for this year.

On a positive note the 16A's have won 3 of 4 with their only loss by 5 so maybe next year they'll be back.

Nudgee demolished Ipswich today. The forwards walked all over Ipswich at the breakdown. The Ippy backs were very good, but Pasatoa really made Walker look like it was a man v a school kid. Superb performance by Pasatoa, possibly his best yet.

What was clear today is the following:

Nudgee won’t have any trouble with any teams for the rest of the season;

TSS won’t have any trouble with any teams for the rest of the season;

TSS will win the Premiership;

Nudgee will be runners up.

A shame to have the Nudgee TSS game in the first round as the season has unfortunely been decided already and now it’s just a bunch of games playing out that have no consequence.

Terrace.oh Terrace.how far have you fallen.

And Terrace may just have fallen a little further. That said it's never good to go off half-cocked too early in the season. Injuries, refs, opposition, weather, salmonella laced burgers at the tuck shop all can have a substantial influence on results with half a season left.

Got the low down on the GT uncontested scrums. GT had exhausted their options for Props and had to revert to safety of their players. No ambiguous moves just safety protocols. The school coaches did what was required. Smart moves.

Yeah that shocked me. We didn’t know what was going on. Coach had no other option. Great win by UQ.

Well said RR I totally agree 100% with your comments:

Pasitoa is not playing to the anywhere near the same high level as years gone by, whether it be with ball in hand, defence or his kicking game - is he injured?

Jock Thompson is exceptional in every facet of his game, by far one of the standout players this year.

Nudgee are definitely contenders but they need to turn over a lot less ball and then it all depends on whether TSS drop a game and let them back in. This weekend will probably be the best game to gauge how BBC compare to NC when they take on Ipswich.

We must have been watching a different game. Pasatoa made several line breaks, set up multiple tries, was devastating in defence and thoroughly outplayed his opposite number. His place kicking was off for sure but it was blowing a gale out there.

Re imports, Nudgee won almost every game again on the weekend through to the lower grades like they have all season and so maybe instead of the “imports” conspiracy, it’s a rugby culture that wins them the games across the board. They attract the top rugby talent to the school due to their unique rugby culture and all the other schools have more or less the same cheque book they throw at prospective students.

Happy to disagree on Pasitoa as I know the guy has talent but he’s not playing at last years level IMO

But have a reread and clarify where your import rant come from?

Sorry mate, I meant the import rant for another post from someone else up further. Apologies.

BBC would have circled 3 game in their rugby calendar this year. The first is this weekend and at home, expect them to blast IGS off the park.

The other two game will depend on their depth which should be there but for some reason, is not. Evident in 2nd XV result and Downland result.

Terrace the most disappointing season so far with the coaching impact minimal.

Serious concern about GPS First XV defence this season. Obviously not a big focus for any team but if it was, TSS might have a contender. Are tackling basic ignored in place of S&C? Look like it with most game

Nudgee rugby culture is very strong but also frustrating for lads (and Dads) that aren’t on scholarships. Many fee paying students end up in Bs and even Cs when they would probably walk into some schools first xv and As teams. They don’t often promote players up to As at Nudgee but rather replace As wth imports and push good players down to Bs. That said competition for spots always makes for depth in squads and all lads are getting to improve Rugby skills and be part of a winning culture.

Depth was alright as evidenced by the 12-12 result at half time with a front row that would be a 3rd XV front row if not for players being held out or still not right to go. Similarly at #10 down the stretch where 3rd or 4th on the depth chart was played. Add to which 3 x Firsts Squad players returning from injury that would be lucky to have played 3 games between them since May

The truth is Downlands would place 4th to 5th out of 10 teams ( if you included them with the other 9 x GPS teams ) and so are a legit top half half of the table team. Garrick Morgan has done a wonderful job with this team and has assembled some great talent. And they are tough. Strong scrum , they get off the line , kill ball at the breakdown, are physical, and in your face with attitude and chat.

Mac Grealy is worth 12-14 points against any Top 3 team and probably 20+ against the rest. Significantly, 3 of their tries ( 2 of which were directly from Grealy ) were against/ on First XV starters which accounted for 17 points

So it’s sort of inaccurate and not right to dismiss Downlands and their significance without understanding proper context . They are a genuine , serious team that deserves respect , and , the respect to put a proper team out against them in what is only an 8 x game season . There is an argument for “rest” but there is also an equally strong argument for continuing to build combinations and rhythm.

A weird parallel universe where I actually agree with Confucious re: the porous defense across the board in GPS First XV Rugby this season and the lack of value attributed to it when you consider how Nudgee won their last 2 premierships .

TSS 67-3 win over TGS very impressive particularly considering the conditions on Sat , their F&A looking very healthy

I wouldn't be worried about ACGS after their efforts so far this season. IF GT can't beat them this weekend I would be very surprised. Both BGS and ACGS played pretty badly. Lots of dropped ball from BGS probably cost them the game. For the first game this year ACGS had front foot ball against BGS but couldn't manage to get the ball past their 12. Not once during the game did the ball get to the 13, 14 or 11 from the back line. ACGS have real issues with their inside backs. Poor options, poor decision making and slow ball. This is after making changes and no improvement. I sure in their wisdom the coaches will make more changes but not touch the real issue. It has been mentioned on this forum many times that if you have a good 10 your team will do well. ACGS is reaping the rewards of who the coaches choose to select. ACGS forwards are working hard and did hold their own on the weekend but to have a BGS rolling maul go 22 metres to score while three forwards were in the backline was inexcusable.
After watching ACGS for many years I was hopeful with new coaches with 7's background that ACGS would try to spread the ball a bit but this has not happened. I believe they are a very young team who lack any rugby maturity and still go into panic mode. I hope they learn and grow for next year. For which I will come down to watch and support and enjoy schoolboy rugby.
On a positive note the 2nd 15 are undefeated and 16A while not winning a game have lost by 4 or less with a draw. Sorry I don’t get down for earlier games so not sure how they are going.

Maybe next year the sun will be brighter.

Pasitoa is coming off an injury-affected preseason and his second half on Saturday was among the best halves of football I've ever seen him play.

If my flyhalf could carve a team like that up just weeks after returning from a hammy injury I'd be cheering. I'm sure Nudgee are.
