Do I have to now lower myself by supporting Terrace this weekend? It doesn't feel right. I have some standards. They are not always that high though. Okay then. Come on Terrace!!

Don't waste your time or lower your standards - GT couldn't win if TSS didn't show up

Just spotted this HJ Nelson shot. Wow. People hang shit on the "imports" all the time but how much more passion for the jersey do you need to see? Jack Howarth might only play another three games of rugby in his life but nobody can ever tell me he doesn't or didn't care about the school. This is as devastated I've seen a young man after losing a game.

Amazing image. And for the Mason Gordon brigade, that strapping on his thumb looks like it's doing some work. I'd suspect that injury would have kept him off the field.

Agree re Howarth King - I hear he has been great addition to the culture and not just the roster at BBC - it obviously meant a lot.

Re Gordon - if he was in the run on 1st XV side and not the 16A side I personally believe it would have been a game changer - he too seems like a great kid who just gets on with it and played the team role despite being dropped having played so strongly for the first 3 games.

So, with 3 rounds left any thoughts on potential big upsets that could keep the season open or shut it down?

There are still a lot of talented, passionate players with a ton of guts running around in all the teams.

Knowing time is almost up for their schoolboy days on the field.

TGS vs BBC

IGS vs TSS

GT vs TSS

ACGS vs NC

BSHS vs BBC

Favorites are deserved favorites of course, but I think perhaps one of these games goes the to the underdog (at least from my round 6 perspective). Those underdog teams are still playing for pride, and their overall position on the ladder.

Can you imagine if every one of these games went against expectations.....Can anyone figure out who would finish on top at the end of round 9?

Remember, Its not over until the beautiful person (not to assume a gender) of any shape or size sings.

^given the last two years, IGS v TSS could cause a few butterflies for the TSS supporters.

IGS play loose , unstructured rugby and teams tend to start playing that way against them in the heat of battle, probably because they opportunities to play wide, which plays into what they are good at.

If TSS play tight with control in the forwards, it won't be close , but you never know.

Bugger, ok.team message this week, don't underestimate TGS. Next week reread my previous post.hopefully it will still hold true.

Following the drubbing that Southport handed out to TGS up on the Frosty Top a few weeks ago, BBC will start deserved favourites for this weekends game but I'm sure it will be much closer than the TSS result. I would say BBC by 18.

Howarth for me was the best on field, and this shows how much he cares for the Jersey!! The crowd of Old Boys there on the day also indicated nobody cares if the kids are on scholarship or not, as long as they are giving 100% and doing the school proud!! Hope the new headmaster was watching closely!

TheKing it is a great comp to watch and follow. Your commentary and articles in the Courier-Mail add to it, kudos to you and all the team involved. My only gripe is it way too short. It seriously needs to go for 3 months minimum. Not sure how we do this considering the boys are there for schooling not rugby, a few boys excepted. Do NSW have the right model with a 10 game home and away season albeit with less teams?

State v Church - will be close but I think the Church will get up as they are finishing strongly at the moment
Brisbane Academia v City boys from the Bush - I doubt the Grammar boys will run through the tunnel of 7 to 9 max student supporters due to calculated self preservation considerations. If they do front up, I predict somewhere between 60 and 80 points to Nudgee
Proud Farmers v Brisbane Rugby-ish College - BBC to win by a cricket score (a game that does not involve place kicking)
Terrace the Brave v The Coasties - Terrace to win with a kick after the bell off the top of a small mound of Southport sand rushed onto the field by a BBC old boy (probably an old prop)

Only one game in doubt this weekend. Good luck to all.
GT Vs TSS - TSS by 40 - GT will be brave but TSS will keep rolling along.
TGS Vs BBS - BBC by 20 - TGS will have a real crack at BBC. BBC will be hurting after last week and will not be troubled by TGS.
BGS Vs NC - NC by 40 - BGS will be in the game at the kick off and then NC who have been building during the season will take off.
BSHS Vs ACGS - ACGS by 5 - Not 100% on this one. Churchie forwards are playing a solid game and will continue to do so. The Backs are a lottery and defence is poor in broken play. If the inside backs can actually get quick ball then Churchie outside backs are capable. The BSHS coach will know Churchie very well and could well come with a game plan to upset them.
