I know this is an old topic, but I've been away for a few months and have missed out on the GPS scene.
Before I left everyone was talking up churchie and to my amazement the haven't won a game.
Could some please in a nutshell sum up what happen to the comps pre season favourite?

I am terrible at tipping so never post my tips. Too often go with the heart rather than the head.

But I will make an exception for this weekend. I feel there may be an upset on the cards with TGS rolling NC up on the range. TGS have lost their away games but are pretty handy on their home ground. It is a scalp that the TGS rugby management will probably judge their season and will be gunning to knock over Nudgee.

TSS v BGS (Sept 1)
Southport's #10. Mitch Third is playing tomorrow.
Does anyone know who is Grammar's back-up
goal kicker if Sam Greene gets injured.
This crucial match could be decided by penalty goal.

Latest report from a brisbane grammar source states Sam Greene with a broken wrist at training, will be interesting to see who replaces him/ how they will go tomorrow?

Can someone confirm this rumour; so I can change my tips  .
BS meter is working overtime.
Saturday Weather forecast is Fine, 25 degrees.

No, the team that plays better and scores more points will win. I've seen plenty of Schoolboy games lost by too much hunger, no discipline and poor execution.

I wasn't really referring to the fact how hungry they are for the win. But the team that shows up ready to play, heads in the zone, and in the game. Over my years in sport, a majority of the games lost were the ones where the team wasn't their 100% and didn't go every inch.

Scenarios for premiership BGS TSS & NC

Nudgee beats TGS on weekend:
TSS beats BGS, BGS beat Nudgee
then TSS Wins

The big clash in round 9 has been overlooked...the scrap for the spoon: Churchie v State High

TSS & Nudgee beat BGS
then NC & TSS tie

BGS beats TSS, Nudgee beats BGS
3 way tie

BGS beats TSS & Nudgee
BGS wins

Nudgee loses to TGS on weekend:
TSS beats BGS, BGS beats Nudgee
TSS Wins

TSS & Nudgee beat BGS
TSS Wins

BGS beats TSS, Nudgee beats BGS
BGS & TSS tie

BGS beats TSS & Nudgee
BGS Win

TSS seem to have the easiest road to the premiership, if nudgee loses at all they are pretty much guaranteed unless BGS goes through undefeated. Unfortunately for NC they have to beat both TGS and BGS for even a shared premiership due to the bye. But basically, if any of the three teams go through undefeated for the last three games they are guaranteed a premiership.

They imported some rock star from Victoria called Nigel (I think) to play in the centres. He is out for the season. No one else in the team has really fired although they haven't lost any game by much. Churchie have also not played GT or BSHS which games they should win easily. A lot of pressure was put on the team early because of the centenary year crap which has probably back fired. Coached by Ian Jones who certainly has the runs on the board. To quote this forum 2 years ago "Jonesey is Ian Jones, Churchie coach, previous 4 years at TSS and long term Ipswich before that. One of the best schoolboy coaches around." Therefore don't really know what happened.

Halftime at BGS vs TSS: 10-11 in favour of Southport. Both teams are one try apiece, Grammar's an amazing run through the centre of the field by 14. Matt Marsden to set up 13. Josh Birch, and Southport's scored in the corner after an overlap by either 12 or 15, couldn't identify. Grammar kicked one penalty and a conversion, Southport kicked two penalties from 40 out, dead in front and no conversions. Absolute cracker of a game so far...

After that clutch (and I can't say the word clutch enough) performance by grammar, I can only say that there is a god in heaven, and his name is Matthew Marsden. Grammar's string of clutch wins against BBC, Churchie and now Southport can only say great things about the strength of this year's First XV; Nudgee had better watch out, because Grammar is coming home with a vengeance.
