Everything about the BGS game has pretty much been said but I would like to add some other things.
BGS were down 10-8 and I'm sure some of that could have been attributed to nerves, but if they play their first 20 minutes like that against the likes of Nudgee, Churchie and TGS, they will get 20+ points put on them. That being said, they really were sublime after that against a fairly ordinary State High outfit.
BGS 8. (Cornelson I think) was very good with some damaging runs, as well as asserting his dominance in the lineout later on in the game.
BGS 11. (Radford?) Scored three tries and for what he lacked in defence, he easily made up for in freakish acceleration and attacking prowess.
BGS 13. I thought he was the best player and I hadn't seen him before. Great in defence and got over the advantage on every run. Probably butchered an opportunity for Radford's fourth but that's the only fault I can remember.
BSHS 5 and 8. Very impressive in an otherwise unimpressive pack. Both worked their hearts out all day and unfortunately weren't supported barring the first 20 minutes.
BSHS 10. Had a good go in the first half then was taken off for some reason. Goal kicked well in windy conditions.
Additionally, BGS. 10 Directed the play very well, provides great service for his potent centre pairing. I think it may be Greene, if so, his goalkicking was not as well as it was last year - albeit tough conditions.
BGS 14. looked like he wouldn't have tipped the scales at much over 65, and he looked very young - year 10 or 11? However, he had amazing speed and creativity as well as defending far above his weight, and is one to watch for the future.
State High 7. also worked fairly hard to little avail.
State High 15. Has a good skill set and successfully got under the skin of some BGS players with his actions behind play, etc.
Disappointing to see a team that are going to cop some more 50 point losses this season.
TGS vs BGS will be a good gauge on how BGS really are this season.
