I believe GT were offered to play the curtain raiser against NC but refused as it is there biggest game of the year. Not all, most country rugby still kicked off at 3ish.
From a commercial perspective tv ratings matter, a lot. Who watches test matches Rugby players and fans.... so I know a great idea - let's throw a test on when a large majority of those actually involved in clubs/schools today are busy. Is this how you commercialise the game ? NO !
How about 4:30 or 5pm kick off and then let clubs/schools etc host functions/bbqs etc after their games ... connecting grassroots to the Wallabies.
Also move a GPS game to Suncorp as a curtain raiser, even throw it on live tv. Having played such a game at Parramatta Stadium many MANY years ago in the NRL Schoolboys cup .... we still talk about how amazing that was.
T
They egged his family home the night before also. Poor old Terrace trying way to hard to fit in…
Lucky his old man didn’t catch them……T

The wallabies test couldn’t have been played today as the dolphins played at Suncorp and channel 9 have paid over a billion dollars for the tv rights. Not all, most country rugby still kicked off at 3ish.

If you read this story closely it actually says nothing and is a typical News beat-up bash rugby story. Abdo has spoken to "some" heads from Sydney GPS schools is the meatiest part of the story. The rest is NRL propaganda that we see every year. There'll be a AFL in GPS schools yarn next. Remember which codes News has the rights for before believing everything they say.
There was a little thing called the Olympics happening in case anyone missed it. Playing it at night meant it would clash with Nine's prime time Games coverage and they couldn't play at 5.30 because NZ-Argentina was playing then. They managed to sell it out so not a terrible outcome anyway. It was a masterstroke of the ARU to set the Springboks game at the same time as GPS rugby. I am absolutely astonished at how shockingly poor Australian rugby is in terms of the decisions made and idiocy with the people running the game. It’s comical
I wouldn’t be so confident that it won’t end coming in at some stage. There are a lot of players being circled. Also AFL is being spoken about at higher levels in GPS to be added. So I wouldn’t write it off as propaganda. Keep ignoring AFL and NRL it will be at the further detriment of Union. If you read this story closely it actually says nothing and is a typical News beat-up bash rugby story. It is is you are trying to grow a game. But whatever, Rugby Australia’s failures are the gain of other sports. There was a little thing called the Olympics happening in case anyone missed it. C. Clifford (GT) - Knee/ACL/MCL - (Season)Any known injuries from the weekend that will greatly affect the teams this weekend?
You dont have to believe it, it is true. Words straight from his mouth. He was in Tassie the week of the BBC game doing promos, the Jackjumpers had him booked on a Saturday flight home he changed his flight to the Friday so he could get back in time for the game. The jackjumpers cracked the darks and tore up his contract. I dont think he is that phased, he backs himself to pick up another deal and it wont be long until he is drafted in the NBA and his couple hundred grand sacrifice to win a premiership with his mates will be well and truly justified.I don’t believe he has had his contract torn up. If he has chosen GPS rugby over a couple of $100k that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Great to see everyone out there! It was actually my first ever battle of the colours so my expectations were high... boy did it not disapoint. My one minor caviat was that I had been told that Nudgee would walk all over Terrace. This was not the case. With an excellent first half from Terrace was looking like the stronger side. It was only in that seccond half when there was a few poor defense on the edges by Terrace that NC got up.Just wanted to comment on the battle of the colours - what an amazing game! Went right down to the wire and was amazing to see my NC boys get over! Would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts and it was great to chat to fellow forumists @WHACKO_JACKO.GT a during the game. Would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts.
