If Bond go down to UQ this weekend in Prems , could find a few back to Colts for finals.

Spencer Jeans
George Blake
Wilson Blyth
Zane Nonggor
Rhiaan Stowers

All above would be eligible from an age point of view.

I think any Reds contracted players are ineligible for Colts
There is also the eligibility issue if players have played a certain number of Prem games they are ineligible for colts finals.
They also need to have been registered before e certain date unless they can get a dispensation.
As I have said before this year is one of the closest comps in the last five years.
there are three teams vying for the last spot in the finals. If Easts beat Brothers then they are in. If they lose then probably the winner of West’s v Souths will probably go through with someone missing out on points differential. A full season would have been excellent.

You sure about Easts?

They would need a bonus point win to finish on 26 competition points.

But what’s the tie breaker then? If it’s for and against the sure they’ll get over the line but if the tie breaker is head 2 head then the juggernaut bulldogs have them because they beat the tigers.

Wests needs 1 competition point and they advance.

Souths would need a bonus point win, a brothers win and have the bulldogs pick up no competition points.

Wow - wests missed out and souths advanced. Congrats to the Magpies
Wests missed out on finals on for and against , finished equal with Souths on 26 points . Same number of wins and bonus points , but a substantially inferior points differential.

Did any drop back from Prems for the Colts game?

Wests had a few of he boys from the Rebels academy but did not provide too much.
Souths were pretty much the same team that has played all year. They just looked to have a better game plan and when the bigger West’s forwards could not get dominance it was not that close.
Next week will be interesting as any team from 1 to 4 can go on a run.

Can someone enlighten me on what the eligibility rules will be for the Colts finals.
Will those Brothers lads who played Prems all season be eligible for Colts 1?
In addition, there appears to be a number of 1st XV schoolboys playing in lower Colts grades in the past couple of weeks. Can they be eligible if they have only played 2-3 games?

Finals across all Colts grades will be very interesting.

Here are the eligibility rules
) A player will be eligible to play in any semi-final, preliminary final or grand final if he has been in the run on team, or played as a fresh reserve, for the club at least one third (1/3) of the regular competition matches in that grade and/or any lower grades prior to the finals series i.e. eighteen (18) match competition = six (6) matches; seventeen (17) match competition = six (6) matches; sixteen (16) match competition = six (6) matches; fifteen (15) match competition = five (5) matches etc. NB A fresh reserve does not Page | 26 8015983v1 equate to playing in any lower grade – it only is considered to be playing in the grade in which they are named and played as a fresh reserve.

Will be monitored very closely for those clubs considering stacking teams

There are ways of getting around these rules through exemptions. I refer to previous years when these exact rules were in place. Don’t ask me how.

For this season you have to have played four games to qualify for finals.

also if you club is in Prem grade your club can put them anywhere as you are picking top down. So technically UQ could drop the Grealy kid with Jock Campbell coming back from the Reds if I read the rules correctly. Not that I think they will they have the team to do the business this weekend in any case.
my picks for the Weekend

UQ and Souths.

They might be able to but won’t, Mac will play 11 with Jock at 15.

The competition has been very close this year with few easy games. The games have been a lot more physical and tactical due to the move to unders 20s. IMO this has made it harder for first year Colts to shine as much. There are the outliars like Crealy playing Prems for UQ.
Some names that have impressed me this year, in particular order

Bond
Nate Searle - 8
Sam Dalton - 9

Brothers
Hayden Sayers - 4/5

UQ
Matt Engelbrecht 5/6
Sam Kelly Knowles - 8
George Gibson 4/5 (2nd part of the season)

Wests
Taine Roiri - 4/5
Tiko Twist - 11 (His name even sounds like he should be good)
Kenan Tauakipaulu (SP) - 8

GPS
Ben Geraghty - 8
Ethan Mcfarland -12/13 (I hear he is only 17)
Harry Barker - 11

Souths
Caleb Brown - 8
Hooker - dont know his name.

Easts
Zac Corthers - 2

From that list if I had to nominate the top 3 in no order,
Ben Geraghty
Matt Engelbracht
Sam Dalton

I think the following players have some amazing potential, they are first year colts and should be stars next year,
Kenan Tauakipaulu (SP) - 8
Taine Roiri - 4/5
Ethan Mcfarland -12/13
This is a pretty awful list. Dalton and Sayers have barely played colts 1 this year as there are better players at the own clubs little own the whole comp. How you can pick more guys from a GPS side that won two games over every other side is beyond me

Mike ease up. A question was asked and an opinion was given. Not everyone saw every game so it's not going to be aperfect list.

Come up with your own list if you feel so sure of it
