Not sure whether this has been commented on earlier in the thread (and I am too lazt to go back and check).

What is the win rate of the Reds vs the Sharks under Link's coaching?

Yep Reds 0 vs Sharks 2

Both games played in Durban both games with some controversy over decision against the Reds.

Time for Link to square the ledger I think!

The only other team that have the wood on the Link coached Reds are the Hurricanes - thank god they were elimated.

Wish I could PB, but I think you are probably closer to Suncorp than I am at the moment! Would take a 16+ hour flight for me to get there. Going to the Stormers game next weekend would be about half that :). My support is limited to a financial membership at the moment.
Robben Eiland is the closest to you, then I have to visit you first before getting to Skotman.

The closer this one get, the surer I get that the Sharks will knock the lucky Reds over tomorrow. The Sharks will have to much fire power up front. They just need to sort out their defense and lucky they have the youngster Jordaan back. he showed in the U20 WC he is an excellent defender and will do the job.

My mother in law got me tickets to the game, seated right on halfway! Now I will actually be able to see what is going on without having to resort to watching the big screen!

TRB, you're lucky, sadly, my MIL is in a dementia facility and can't remember what day it is!!

Very marginal losses. I think the Reds will have the wood on them at home. You guys play really well at home and the Sharks have a big flight ahead of them after a handful of very physical clashes. The Reds should have won this year but those injuries screwed things up a bit.

I'm expecting a big game from Reds #12 Mike Harris, despite many GAGR posters saying he's "unworthy" of being compared to Kurtley Beale!!

odd comparison.. K. Beale is obviously more talented, but they have different attributes

Not really!
TOCC, you obviously missed the copious number of posts and stats. on a recent thread re the ability of either Harris or Beale to "win you a match".

A lot has been said (albeit from Fox) about the Reds win rate without Quade (6/11 or something similar) and with Quade (5/5) this year. It's their be all and end all stat apparently.

But from memory, we rarely had the same backline for the front end and middle of the season. Since Quade has been back we've been lucky enough to run close to the same back line every game right? I may be wrong but. This would certainly count for a lot of our last 5 games success surely?

We had at least 5 different 9/10 combo's in the early part of the season that I can think of. Hard to win games consistently with that sort of stat and the 6 from 11 probably isn't that bad.

I guess, looking at it objectively doesn't make people tune in and watch the game on Fox but right?
I actually think our centres were a big issue this season until the streak started. I dont know if QC (Quade Cooper) makes people look better (it must help with his passing) but I dont think the passing and catching looked very crisp, everyone always seemed to be a step in front or behind the ball. If they can get their timing right without QC (Quade Cooper) then I think they will do alright

I have really like Harris the last couple of weeks, he is the reason I cant find a spot for Tapuai in the team if he was fit

Beer time for me. Will miss both play offs, it interfere with my line walking tomorrow morning. Best of luck to both teams and hope the best team win!

In what possible way is he even close to being compared with Beale? Remember Beale has a test winning kick too, a much harder one at that :p

Just a little somthing I prepared earlier on Kaplan just to keep the forum ticking along...
Ref stats: Jonathon Kaplan has done 11 SuperRugby games in 2012

At scrum time Kaplan is averaging 2.8 resets per game (15th highest in the comp out of 19 refs), or 15.0% of scrums. He is handing out 3.9 scrum infringements (pens and F/K) per game, this is 7th highest.
On average 63% of the time it will be conceded by the defending team. This is 13th lowest in the comp, most refs ping the defending team. So basically he hands outs more scrum infringements, than resets it twice as likely to be a pen more than a free kick.
Kaplan is handing out an average of 20.4 penalties per game, 5th highest in the comp. On average 8.2 penalties will be inside the 22 (3rd highest ref for doing so) and 7.6 penalties will become kicks at goal. This will suit the Sharks more than the Reds at the Reds are conceding an average of 10.3 pens per game, and are conceding 3.1 penalties when they are in possession of the pill. This is highest in the comp.
Note Kaplan does hand out critical 2nd hand penalties more than Peyper, and they are in hard to kick spots, if he sticks to the form book.
The penalty profile for Kaplan is, on average, per game (ranking out of 19 refs in brackets 1 = highest) per game:

· ruck/mauls 11.3 (15);

· scrums 2.6 (5);

· lineouts 0.5 (10);

· offside 3.3 (5);

· not already specified 2.7 (4).

Of the ruck/mauls in the games Kaplan is in charge of, 6.6 % end up as pens with 78.2% conceded by defending team.

Beautiful day here in Brisbane for fast open rugby. Going to be a cracker tonight.

Let's hope Kaplan keeps his whistle in his pocket and let's the boys play.

I just wish the game would come. Trying to study but all I find myself thinking about is the Reds vs Sharks.

Qwerty51, you obviously didn't see the thread mentioned above. I merely pointed out that stats-wise both were equal in their ability to score points at Super Rugby level (one point difference in tries and goals scored). At this early stage in his career, Harris is ahead of Beale at test level. Remember we were talking about Harris v Beale's "ability to win you a match", and I pointed out that Harris broke John Eale's Australian record for most goals in a match, and that he broke the record for consecutive goals at Super Rugby level (24). I went on to say we will never know who was the most valuable player until they have both retired and their careers are compared. Other posters suggested that (using my comments), players like Ben Alexander shouldn't be on the field because they rarely score points, so all bases were covered in that thread!
With near-perfect conditions (except for the possibility of wind around 25kms/hr), I hope Mike Harris gets the chance to prove his worth to the Reds tonight.
