Maybe that was the intention? It seemed very odd.

Before the Brisbane test some people have suggested folk should get over the Beale incidents. Now we some people continue to hold massive grudges against Cooper and won't hear a good word about him. Might be time for both camps to move on and channel all there aggression to players that really deserve it like that Kenny-Dowell guy and JOC (James O'Connor).

That Kenny Dowell guy is copping plenty and will continue to do so. But Rugby columns get filled with issues and results around rugby players and rugby matches, not the troubles of League or AFL players.

Really?

The only rugby player I can think of, off the top of my head, who comes close to what Kenny-Dowell is alleged to have done is Julian Savea and he gets a free pass because he's the best winger in the world. You might get some likes for it, but I reckon it's pretty ordinary comparing him with someone like that.

The JOC (James O'Connor) mention was sarcastic and meant to give some perspectiveand humour to the personal grudges being held. Of course he doesn't warrant a serious mention with others like K-D.

Rattue's got all sorts of form for being a troll. I don't know why any player would ever give his opinion the time of day.

Rattue's a dribbler. He's managed to get to Quade though, so job done I guess.

I'm actually pretty encouraged by how the team have handled something that could have gone bad quickly. Stayed calm, got themselves lined up and sorted out, and then put their version of events out there.

Yep, they quickly dealt with it and moved on. I think the culture that Cheika is building in the team is a good one.

Hang onto that hate even though the coach has come out and said there isn't a problem. If this is the biggest issue of the year i think everyone will be very happy.

So basically the roar and the NZ media. no offence, but that's not exactly the pillorying by the "Aussie media" that has been painted by some here.

The SMH and the Aus are examples of the Australian media - the Roar is a blog and the NZ herald isn't supposed to even try to be supportive of any of our players.

The article was picked up and run by some Australian outlets, I remember reading it and I don't look at New Zealand sites.

I think you'll find Beale will get a shot at 12 before Lilo. Beale was selected in the original squad while Lilo was brought in after Gits injured his sternum.

I'm not so sure - if Beale was seriously being considered as a starting 12, wouldn't he have gone into 12 when To'omua was injured rather than Cooper?

What hate? I was making the point that bringing up a thuggish League player as some sort of example of how this isn't worth reporting on is neither here nor there. It's a little like a League fan saying "well there's a war in Syria, so lets not focus too much on Kenny Dowel.

I'll agree that if this is the biggest controversy we have to deal with, it's a massive win, but frankly I'd still rather we weren't discussing a dumb tweet to begin with. Cooper is 27 and not 17 - he should get that social media is dangerous by now.

And the Herald is descending into grubby little tabloid status, so don't get too upset by what you read in there. It's certainly never representative of NZ media.

Cheika said he put Cooper on instead of Beale because he specifically wanted Beale on later against tired defences.

Which probably is a good indication of KB (Kurtley Beale)'s role in the squad. I think he has the #23 locked down after yesterday but he won't start.

The pecking order for #12 v the All Blacks IMO is:
To'omua
Giteau
Lealiifano.

I also think that if To'omua is unavailable and Giteau starts that Horne will get a wing spot over Tomane. He may do anyway.

It's got me buggered how a dodgy tweet that has since been explained and seemingly forgiven by Chieka is being discussed ad nauseum but Hooper striking out at a guy during a game is being laughed off and even applauded by some.
Fuck me. If he can be goaded in to taking a swing that easily then I worry that our oppo won't try it on in a more serious match. There's not much risk for them to try. In a knock out game of the RWC the oppo gives his jersey a tug and he punches them he could get a red card and where does that leave us? Ask Wales how a red to an influential flanker in a RWC semi worked for them.

There's three issues here: off-field incidents and poor behaviour - particularly expletive laden tweets - tend to draw a lot of attention when they're from high profile people. Second, it happened at the same ground where a whole lot of crap happened off the field with the team last year, and third, the author of the tweet happens to be a guy with a track record of courting unnecessary controversy with off-field comments.

Hooper's incident hasn't been discussed as much because there's only grainy footage at this stage along with reports that other angles show this is a dive; he's a genuine clean-skin and the smack was in response to a professional foul whilst the team were in full flight toward the try line, and lastly because it's highly uncharacteristic of him.

I know people think Quade cops it unfairly, but Hooper has been nothing but good for the image of the Wallabies up until this point, whilst Quade frankly hasn't. To be fair, he did seemingly learn his lesson for a while there, but the context of the location of the tweet and the guy who wrote it made it somewhat explosive in a way that grainy footage of a histrionic south american falling over was not.
