For those wondering, the tie-breaker rules are:

• Most wins from all matches

• Highest aggregate points difference from all matches

• Most tries from all matches

• Highest aggregate difference in tries for and against from all matches

• Coin toss (only used to determine Finalists)

(taken from http://www.superrugby.com/News/NewsArticle/tabid/1360/ArticleID/3339/Default.aspx)

Interesting to note that if these way was used in 2009, the Tahs would have been in front of the Crusaders and got into the finals. As it was, points difference counted more than winning.

Simple equation now, beat Brumbies and make the 6. Where in the 6 is more complex.

Points difference of 112 is best outside of the conference leaders but Bulls have more wins going into the final round. Looking at next week and the current standings if the Blues lose to the Highlanders (without 2BP's) and the Sharks beat the Bulls (no BP's) and the Tahs win with the bounus point then could finish as high as 4th? The Blues result will be known before the game, I wonder if the order to go for the 5 point win will come down from the bean counters?

However should Sharks win as above, and be equal with the Tahs in terms of table placing and number of wins, and despite the Tahs' greater points difference and higher bonus points, would that draw Sharks had tip them above Tahs?
