I struggled with the Android apps. On my tablet it only shows in portrait mode, which is a bit bloody stupid when the physical keyboard is attached and the screen is on the side. It also paused a lot, and force closed a few times (running ICS).

On the Android phone, I found the app slow and unresponsive. Plus it's a pain to type on the phone when you've got a computer, so I ended up using their website

Sully do you know if the people from PlayUp will be checking this thread to see people's feedback?

It hung a bit in Chrome too. But it was a beta

It's public domain data that the firm building PU has has massive $ investment, just btw. That's why I asked above: looking at this crap appware, where has the money gone?

Same happened on my iPad 3 times and phone once. Just got hung up.

Did you give PlayUp a go with our trial? If so, let us know what you thought

I enjoyed it, felt more appropriate than using Twitter. I used the iPhone app, which crashed twice when writing posts.

Average at best. Froze multiple times, had to shut down iPad 3 times and phone once to get it going again. No iPad specific version. Not overwhelmed. Running scoreboard or some such would be good.

@cyclopath you might be able to restart the app rather than the iPad. If you double press the iPad button, a taskbar will pop up at the bottom of the screen, with all currently running apps. Touch and hold any app, and red 'delete' badges show up. Press the delete badge for PlayUp, then start it again. Makes the crashing more of a minor hassle.

The iphone app had running score and time.

Yeah, didn't work.

The score seemed to update really quickly, much quicker than when we use Cover It Live and keep forgetting! If they're going to have someone there to update the scoreboard, it'd be good to also update who scored.

It would be good to have some mod functions in the room, Scarfy said some bad words ;) actually it'd be pretty tough without mod when there's a flood of kiwis / saffas in our hangout - would playup provide staff to keep it under control?

Score update and time were good, as was the general vibe of the discussion too. But I was using the iPhone version and had to restart the app a least 4 times as it froze once id hit post.

Seemed to do it more often when replying to someone than just creating a new post, so maybe an issue there

More to the point would be were most people accessing this from the ground or at the pub or from home?

If most of us are watching TV, then use a PC application.

All above sounds like the tech product review equivalent of the after game review of the Rebels first ever match.

Frankly, I think just having a game specific GGR hashtag on Twitter would work just as well, if not better. There would be no glitches, and posting/reading would be device independent.

But not everyone twitters. There were a few people who had to sign up to social media to contribute last night.

Moses is there a way to get shoutbox on twitter?

Not having a Twitter or facebook I couldn't join in. As much as shoutbox is pretty limited, at least it is still attached to the GAGR website.

If people have to leave this site to use another I think you will see the involvement taper off over time and you are essentially sending your patrons off to another business.
